Moderation Guidelines

Hello Milletians! I wanted to come by and share with you our improved moderation guidelines. There have been many incidents in the past, where it was not clear how moderation worked on the forums. We have gone ahead and revamped the whole system, hoping that these guidelines are easy to understand and fair to all users of the forums.


When do these guidelines go into effect?

The new moderation guidelines will go into effect tomorrow, November 2nd, 2018.


What does this mean for me?

First, we will go ahead and wipe all existing warnings. With these guidelines, we hope there is no confusion on how the forums are moderated and how warnings work.


Will rules be modified/removed in the future?

These rules are subject to change as needed. Nexon America staff maintains the right to rescind and/or change access after review at any time.



Moderation Guide


Necro- Bumping

  • Marketable threads (Selling items in-game, art threads, etc) are allowed to be necro-bumped. This reduces players needing to make a new thread whenever they have an update to a shop.
  • If a thread is necro-bumped after 30 days of the last activity and it is not a marketable thread, this will result in the thread being closed and the user being sent a PM as to why the thread was closed and reminding them of the rule in the Code of Conduct. (This will not count as a verbal warning.)


Moving and/or editing comments/threads

  • Any time a comment is edited by a VFM or a GM, there needs to be a reason left on the original comment as to why the comment was edited.
  • Example: I am so -removed- happy that we got this event again
    Your comment was edited for the following reason: Inappropriate language.
  • As the reason for the edit is in the comment, there is no need to PM the user regarding the edit.
  • Any time a thread or comment is moved whether it be because the thread/comment is in the wrong section or because the thread/comment is controversial/inappropriate/etc, a PM to the user will be sent as to why their thread or comment was moved.
  • If the comment or thread was removed for breaking anything in the Code of Conduct (derailment, threatening comments, FUD, etc), the PM will be a verbal warning.
  • If a thread has been merged, a comment will be left by the VFM or GM explaining why the merge occurred.


Derailment

  • If a user’s comments has been removed a total of 10 times, this will merit a verbal warning.
  • If the user has been sent 3 verbal warnings already, this will merit a warning placed on their account.
  • Derailment happens often and is not as a severe issue such as harassment, FUD, etc.
  • However, if the derailment occurs often by the same user/users and starts to fill the thread (example: 3 pages of derailment), it will be severe enough to merit a verbal warning.


Verbal Warnings

A user will be given 3 verbal warnings before a Mild Warning is placed on their profile.
  • The warnings will be clearly labeled as [Verbal Warning].
  • Users may receive other PMs from VFMs/GMs but if it is not clearly labeled Verbal Warning, it does not count as one of the 3 verbal warnings.


A user will be given 3 verbal warnings before a Medium Warning is placed on their profile.
  • The warnings will be clearly labeled as [Verbal Warning].
  • Users may receive other PMs from VFMs/GMs but if it is not clearly labeled Verbal Warning, it does not count as one of the 3 verbal warnings.


A user will be given 2 verbal warnings before a Severe Warning is placed on their profile.
  • The warnings will be clearly labeled as [Verbal Warning].
  • Users may receive other PMs from VFMs/GMs but if it is not clearly labeled Verbal Warning, it does not count as one of the 2 verbal warnings.
  • A Severe warning will only be given to the user by a GM/Nexon.


Example of a Verbal Warning

[Verbal Warning 1] - Hello, this PM is to expand and elaborate as to why you’ve been the recipient of a verbal warning. [Insert Reasons here]. Here is/are the rules you are breaking as per the Code of Conduct. [Insert line here]. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to respond.

For Verbal Warnings, all GMs and VFMs will be included in the PM. This is to keep track as well as have proof that a warning was sent


Warnings on Profiles

Any warnings on profiles will clearly display why they are being warned:
  • 3 Verbal Warnings (or 2 if they are on the severe warnings)
  • Rules they are breaking in the Code of Conduct

Warning Duration

  • Mild Warnings will be removed after 2 weeks.
  • Medium Warnings will be removed after 4 weeks.
  • Severe Warnings will be removed after 6 weeks.


Bans

Once a user has accumulated all 3 warnings and none have expired, VFMs will escalate the issue to a GM. The VFMs and GMs will moderate the user that has the 3 warnings. If they continue their behavior, a GM will PM the user one final verbal warning. If the warning is ignored, the next step is a ban from the forums.

  • First Ban will last 2 weeks. After the two weeks are over, the person will be unbanned and retain the severe warning on their account. The warnings will decrease over time according to our Warning Duration. However, if they receive another verbal warning and continue on the behavior, they will be banned again.
  • Second Ban will last 1 month. After the month is over, the person will be unbanned and retain the severe warning on their account. The warnings will decrease over time according to our Warning Duration. However, if they receive another verbal warning and continue on the behavior, they will be banned again.
  • Third Ban is PERMANENT.
