Earlier today, I was really bored. I had nothing to rank, no energy to run shadow missions, and I felt like I got on just to sit there and stare at my character. Then, a couple of my friends came on, one of them on an alt to train, and then I got a wonderful idea. We should all go on our weaker alts and do some hard dungeon and see how far we get. My mindset was that it would be a little bit harder but not by very much... but ohohohoooooo how I was wrong. We did fiodh, and gremlins were OP, bears were giant HP pools, werewolves were tanks, gorgons were completely insufferable, and it was then I felt truly alive! :D It was me as a human and my friends as an elf and as a giant, and we all had to work together with our tools to get through it all! It made me remember what Mabinogi was all about.

You guys should do the same and try to challenge yourselves with friends on weaker characters to try and relive that sense of teamwork Mabinogi was founded on! :)

This is why I don't want to expand the end game or just constantly improve the player characters. I'm sure by now people are already going into Phantasm alone and coming out just fine. When the next thing comes out, they'll go to that, hoping for a challenge, end up running it solo, then complaining again.

I've been doing this for the past year due to boredom. It's refreshing to work on a lower level or new character. Unfortunately most of my old friends and guildies have long since quit the game or just rarely log on any more, so it can be challenging to solo content.

The challenge factor is what got me hooked on this game, and trying to run Fiodh alone with a character at cumulative level 250-300...Yipes! I did that a while back and just barely survived the first floor using all of my solo survival techniques (snipe to pull enemies from the herd, take 'em down one at a time, and take breaks to recover with Rest and Campfire when you get really banged up)!

I'm glad you and your buddies had a fun dungeon crawl. There's nothing like going through battles that really put you through the wringer to really make you feel alive, and Mabi has so many of those moments along the way! ^_^
