the only good thing that could come out of Disney buying Nexon is it would be super easy to get a Kingdom Hearts crossover event in mabi which might be a good way for them to win over some of the players. but whoever buys Nexon it could either be really bad or really good for mabi and all other Nexon games.

In my updated post that would be a big nope.

The tippy tip top chip of a chip. XD

Which is why if Disney got us this game is done. Tencent they will shut us out because CHINA. It is with a heavy heart that I say this; we're better off with EA or Activision. (There are also several other smaller KR companies interested like Netmarble but they don't have the capital realistically).

At this point I am more concerned about the sale than the whole gachapon or lootbox thing going on right now. According to news articles the bidding has begun since the middle of this February.

It was already named before it reached us.

Mind you we are always behind in content by a significant amount. NA is just going through the motions as directed. Promo graphics are easily and flamboyantly easily generated. Base source material, some filters, and text, bam. I did mention they are the last to know whats going to happen. The higher ups might know but as I said they are just going through the motions until they get the final word from their superior's superiors. They are not going to inform ANYONE (even their own employees) until it's a done deal. Once it's done they are at that point they are required to give their employees some kind of notice.

A sale of a company is a big deal. It changes things. It can be REALLY bad or it can be (kinda) good.

I've worked in similar businesses. I worked in one for 7 years until they outsourced and gave us notice. Everything was seemingly fine. But then...I recall we had like a month or so before they got rid of our department. Very short warning notice imo.

They do this on purpose so the employees have no time to fight back but only have time to look for new employment to sustain themselves. It's dirty and legal.

Chapter 7 Five months from the start of Apocalypse.
    The
G23 storm, which I have been prepared to stand up to in the chaos of being deprived of my character as a "reminder, please!"

The G23 update mainstream TEMPEST and new characteristics of the five ,
and the new Tehran duin mission-awakened deep monarch - and alchemy, dolls alcohol, gyeoktusul talent only new weapons will be published.
In other words, this (likely) is the final intended Generations quest line. (Hence Apocalypse.)
Yes on technical terms they can quite literally end Mabinogi whenever they want to after this.
On another technical term, it means that Generations quests might be the last main quest line they develop.
What this would mean is more room for side quests, more NPC development, or possibly newer zones or dungeons.
This is the end of Generations, but not necessarily Mabinogi just yet.

On the bright side, KR continues fan art contests. So Mabinogi isn't dead for them at least.

They have already stated that they are doing 4 Generations in this Chapter. This is really getting out of hand.

Not to mention that the only real thing this says, is that there's going to be a new tech duinn mission, more alchemyrelated stuff, and another talent(?) Google translate is hardly enough to get a full meaning, the engine isn't good for korean somehow.

That's hardly any basis to say Devcat won't pull out any more gens. In fact, i believe they said they wanted to put out 'balancing' updates as the gens came out back in campfire meeting. Alchemy seems to be the first attempt at.

It's likely more news will fall after we see who wins the bid for Nexon. Maybe better customer interaction, i can hope right?

It would be nice if they find a better publisher. One not geared on so much gambling.

    "Disney, Tencent, Activision, and EA"
Honestly, Disney's likely only interested in Nexon because MS2 is a Minecraft style MMORPG.
Once they find out that there's no solid ESRB rating, and lack of gambling regulations on Gachapons, they'll probably focus on funds being elsewhere. (That's assuming they don't enjoy the consumer feedback on their Marvel X Nexon app collab.)
Having too much of a "Bad Show" is a big industry no-no to Disney, and considering how much of a mess Nexon is internally...
Disney is our last bet. (ha ha, very punny...)
EA and Activision will probably see the same and bail before landing thier bets too. (Their chickens flew the coop, it's time to save face.)
I honestly don't know much about Tencent...
"Tencent Holdings Limited is a Chinese multinational investment holding conglomerate founded in 1998, whose subsidiaries specialise in various Internet-related services and products, entertainment, artificial intelligence and technology both in China and globally"
Thank you wiki. Wow! Comics, music, games, and pictures... sounds like an all round media outlet.
And bu what?! This is crazy stuff to own, man.
They sound rich, and smart. You'd have to be dumb not to realize buying Nexon involves so much more than Cash Shop modernization.
But then again, companies love buying each other because they have cash. You never know, they might make things... something.
Either at better or worse results, it's not much of a difference at this point of the Loot Box regulations. (And impending global legal doom.)
    25d656982c3ef389fe8d0d9734c2af2ee66b51df_hq.gif
In this bidding war, Tencent sounds like a likely bidder with money to actually pull something off.
What that something is, I don't know. It does sound like the China audience would benefit from it most, at least.
At the most, Tencent could buy and manage Nexon however they wanted in China, and would be left with what KR left of the other branches to manage.
At best, they could actually do a great job with global branch management, and utilize Nexon to boost their comic audience through the app store whilst bolstering the black box technologies Dev Cat left behind. (New and improved combat/UI, in our dreams.)

    *Edit*
"Investment firms in the US, including Carlyle, TPG, and KKR are also looking to bid on Nexon's majority shares."
    Oh buddy, more research. Ugh.
    *Double Edit*
None of these three investors look the least interested in anything video game related.
This seems to be the other side of Nexon, the KR business end. Dare I say... humanitarian?
"For TPG, sustainability is an important factor"
    tenor.gif
There's one for the count! RIP Mabinogi if investors take over...

If you thought KR hated us, just wait until we encounter China - they really really hate us. Maximum prejudice.

But they do have an NA branch. Bad news, they are located in SF and not LA.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But they could end up keeping Nexon as a subsidiary. Actually I think this would be more likely the case.

"One of the biggest publishers of free-to-play online games in China, including Dungeon Fighter and ArchAge. Tencent Holdings also owns Riot Games, nearly half of Epic Games, and 12% of Activision Blizzard. Tencent is currently the world's highest-earning video game company."

They own Dungeon Fighter online...? What? League of Legends...? Partially own Fortnite?

Let me guess, one of those words they call us includes "Entitled," or "Impatiently Rude."

"In 2017, 21 April, Tencent announced the rebranding of its Chinese 'Tencent game platform' as WeGame,[178] which was launched in September 2017. Tencent has since announced plans to develop a Hong Kong edition of WeGame that can be used by players outside of China, potentially setting up the platform to compete with Valve Corporation's Steam platform."

"TenPay is an online payment system similar to PayPal, it supports B2B, B2C, and C2C payments.[187] In some Chinese cities individuals can use TenPay for utility payments and to refill their public transport cards.[188] Co-branded credit cards are available, and credit card bills can also be paid using the service.[189] Offline recharging of your TenPay account is possible, as the company sends employees to collect customer money in person.[190] Tencent was reported in 2017 to be working with China's Central Bank to develop a central payments clearing platform for online payments[146]"

    hE86A15F6

New competition to Steam and PayPal, huh? All hail our new overlords then.

Yeah, they only run the Taiwan/CH versions of DFO through their QQ platform. Trying to install and play on the game is a nightmare because they would fill the installer full of sketchy bloatware. I remember having to decline 12 installations before actually installing the game itself.
