OP, I can understand your frustration, but like others have said, Nexon isn't forcing you to buy gacha. If you want a specific item, buy it off another player that had a little more luck. Also:

Yeah it can be annoying, but it's better to do it on your server's market channel, where most of the players are. And if they're AFK, just quit the job and keep trying. You'll eventually get someone who isn't. Good luck!

The Save the Goddess questline is Generation 1, and it is still playable. I believe after you complete your beginner quests, you will view a cutscene and the first quest to start Generation 1 will be given to you.
