Somehow (like you), my first rank 1 was critical hit. It's probably because I didn't focus on training any specific skills, and critical hit sounded cool in my head back then. I kinda played mabi more for the social aspects back then tho.
Also happens when you wear the new Guardian Clothes from the puzzle event. It will not only block you from talking to Beimnech, but also Altam in later quests. It took me so long to figure out that that was the reason I couldn't progress lol

I decided to transfer my 1H Sword Spirit into a 2H Sword Spirit, and make my new egos house a Shuriken and a Chain Blade. I might change move my original spirit from a 2H Sword to something else though...maybe a Cylinder or a Wand. I'm not sure yet.
