About Me
The most mediocre player in mabi. Yeah.
  • Get this lootbox out of my game, Senator Hawley?

I highly doubt parties subject to regulations will go down without a fight.

I also feel as though the actual players would just find a way around it. I mean when I was younger, nothing really stopped me from doing something I wasnt supposed to, besides, say the knowledge that I shouldn't. But if you really want to do something, some words on a paper isn't going to stop you from trying to find a way around it. I think thats where at any point in time the parenting really comes in.

I do see the point of the happy meals and such lol. Never quite thought about it but you're always guaranted something just maybe not the thing you actually want, so maybe you go more often to buy more happy meals in order to get it. (Though I have heard of people asking for the toy they want and getting it, it seems to be dependent on location, so an exception.) But I don't think they are ever going to opt for regulating those real life examples.

This makes me wonder if it's possible this would open the door for more regulation of games in the United States. (Anti-addiction regulation etc.)

Also thanks for the detailed replies, Kensama, I'm obviously not super educated on the subjects, so it helps.

This brings up some issues in my mind, and I'll sort of ramble about them. But I wouldn't really care about the feature.

The reason companies don't do it much is hurt feelings. Also becomes a way to further harass users. (Getting together and massively downvoting someone. Or even just bombing them yourself, doesn't take much effort.)

The biggest problem with feelings is that, people may feel like the community is too closed off and may not want to participate. (Even the rep system probably has the effect on people.) It's all good to pretend that people should just grow thicker skin, but it will never happen. On a lot of forums I've even seen request, and had to personally clean up multiple threads about even post count being a issue. Point being, there exist a good handful of people who take these meaningless numbers too seriously. (Either as a way to stroke Epeen or as some kind of personal assault against them.) Heck, to further highlight this even well thought out disagreement in the form a reply can cause outbursts.

On the issue of troll threads, it achieves nothing really? They'd still exist. There will be more, and the new down votes would do nothing. All it does is as kensama brought up, add to the possibility of trolling. Even if you increase moderation, it's near meaningless, because the only reason you do such things is to have fun. (Or for a small amount of some really smart people, because they have some kind of vendetta to carry out, and a lot of time to do so.) Either way, they don't really care.

The only things I see this being a plus for is as was said in OP, being able to disapprove without saying why in a post. Which, I guess is alright? I mean it all kind of comes together in a circle though. Don't like someone? Get lots of people to downvote. The forum community doesn't like some new sensitive person? Downvote them out of here.

Not trying to be a negative person and bring up worst possible scenarios, but I mean, it does happen. Just to me feels like there is more possible cons than pros

  • Don't pay the noob tax

So for the new G theres a part on it where you have to collect hot chocolate and s'mores. While lazy people can go and pay the absurd price that you may find in the auction house, noobs may be thinking that it's the only way to get it for themselves. While I don't condemn taking advantage of increased demand of a product, and of people who don't educate themselves, I do still want to put this up here for the newer players who may lurk on the forums.

    Hot chocolate:
    Wikipage

Chocolate, Steamed milk, and whipped cream. All things you can buy from NPC.
But say you don't have the rank for cooking it, or just don't want to. You can buy from wanst in vales, as said in the page above.

    S'mores is a bit harder.
You need marshmallow and chocolate chip cookie. The cookie you can buy from fraser in emain macha.

For marshmallow you need sugar, gelatin and water. Sugar can be bought from most cooking npcs. Water can be gathered by using the well near glenis in dunbarton.
Gelatin you need ingredient hunting for. Now they have free ace rebirth. Just rebirth into culinary artist and you'd get it. Then just go into missions and start training some skills. You will eventually find it, while ranking the skill.
