I caught the reference. Heh.
Anima, Ch.52: Living Memory
Author: Shaeli

Meara is led deeper down the rabbit hole of her subconscious by her original self, still locked away in her mind. She had wanted nothing more than to know her family...and her original self shows her what her parents were like. They're nothing like what Meara imagined...but given her nature, it makes perfect sense...
Then again, is Meara's old self really showing her the truth, or just what current Meara wants to see?

Anima, Ch.53: War in Heaven
Author: Shaeli
Server: Mari
In her previous life, Meara had been named Sariana. Still subsumed in her subconscious with her former self, Sariana recalls how her life came unraveled, starting with a failed assassination attempt on her father, which left her mother and younger sister dead. That tragedy set in motion a sequence of events that spiraled out of control into a war that engulfed all of creation. It ended with her entire universe gone, and herself a lost soul stranded between existences—in the Soulstream—only to be pulled into Erinn thousands of years later....
Then Sariana finally tips her hand. She wants her consciousness back, and Meara is the one in control of it...

Don't expect many more of these.

Now it all comes to light. Meara is merely the detached consciousness of her former self, given a false body and an independent will, after her memories and identity were locked away by Morrighan and Nao. All the time she had spent trying to regain her memories was in vain. She was merely meant to be a tool in the war against the Fomors.
But her true self did not sleep. Unaware of what was going on in the world she had been dragged into, unaware of the life her "vessel" was leading, Sariana had been striving to free herself, to reclaim the consciousness stolen from her, to take this body she was imprisoned in as her own. And she is an unrepentant mass murderer who will destroy Erinn and torture the undying Milletians forever if she has her way.
They cannot exist without each other, but they cannot go on existing as they are now....

It should come out to 68 chapters and then an epilogue...
Anima, Ch.55: Unholy Unity
Author: Shaeli
Server: Mari
At at impasse, Meara and Sariana both ended up trying to absorb the other's will by force, but neither could overcome the other's determination to resist. All they succeeded in doing was stealing some of each other's memories.
That was enough, though. Sariana relented. In those stolen memories, she saw her future self living a life she'd never imagined; a life of freedom, filled with joys she never knew possible, and experiences she never knew she wanted. She came to the realization that her scheming to take control of Meara's body had ruined that life, ruined it for both of them. For the first time, she knew regret, regret at what she'd done to her other half.
Wanting the chance to also live a free life, but knowing she could never change her vile nature enough to have it, Sariana proposes something Meara didn't think was an option. They were originally one mind, split apart. Both of them realize that neither of them can move forward without the other's perspective. Perhaps what is necessary for both of them...is for them to be one mind again...
Thus, what was divided became reunited.
Meara wakes up again; her memories restored, her sense of identity jumbled, and her options uncertain...
One thing is clear, though. Erinn has no place for her. She should have never been brought here, and the sooner she leaves, the better.
But how to go about doing it? And what loose ends need to be tied up first?

Anima, Ch.56: A Coming Storm
Author: Shaeli
Server: Mari
Meara finally has her memory back, and is horrified at what she's discovered about herself...the depths of cruelty and depravity she was once capable of...is still capable of. But with those memories came...power. Potential. Confidence. And this terrifies her as much as everything else. Having come to the conclusion that she has no place in Erinn anymore, that she won't be able to resist using her newly remembered capabilities for ill ends, that she won't be able to stop herself from being corrupted, she's set her mind to finding a way to go about leaving this world behind.
Akule tries to reassure her that she's a better person than she thinks she is, for even considering that she might give in to her baser instincts, but Meara isn't convinced. She sees herself as too much of a potential danger to Erinn and doesn't want to risk becoming another existential crisis.
Speaking of which, she then learns from Merlin what fate has befallen the Aliech Kingdom in the last seven years—by the time the Dark Knights had been defeated, half the kingdom had been laid to waste, with most of its people put to the sword or dead of starvation. Aside from Tara and Taillteann, which are still barely holding on, the other towns are now abandoned ruins, their survivors having fled to the capital, or across the sea to Iria and Belvast.... On top of this, a new threat is looming, with mutated creatures prowling the ruins.
Meara won't stand for this. Hearing of this news, and of a potential otherworldly invasion, she vows to stop it at its source.
Erinn has suffered enough.

Oh well, the hard part is over. After over a year of working on it, it feels weird to be finished.
Anima, Ch.57: Shining Path
Author: Shaeli
Server: Mari
Having resolved to hunt down the source of the otherworldly corruption worming its way into the world, both as a means to leave Erinn and to save it in the process, Meara prepares for her final task, with some guidance from Merlin and Akule. However, one obstacle remains: she is effectively a prisoner in Iria, and it remains to be seen if Morrighan will ever let her walk free again. Hopefully Meara won't have to fight the Goddess for her freedom, and can reason with Morrighan. If it comes to force, though...with what Meara's remembered, she just might be able to prevail, but the consequences would be horrific...

Author: Shaeli

Having sensed Meara was trying to escape her "prison" of Iria, Morrighan's ire is invoked... But Meara has enough of her own to throw right back at the goddess who sealed her memory away—enough to convince her that maybe they should talk this out like civilized demiurges.
With some...convincing, and appeals to reason, Meara wins her freedom. Now she can begin her final task..

Author: Shaeli

After seven years of imprisonment in Iria, Meara finally returns to her old stomping grounds...to find them in ruins. The long war with the Dark Knights left all the towns of eastern Uladh burned out and abandoned, all paths to the western strongholds of Tara and Taillteann blocked to stem the Dark Knights' onslaught, and all the Moongates in the abandoned lands deliberately destroyed...
While surveying the aftermath, disguised as a mere red fox, Meara runs into a certain trio of Alban Knights, who have no idea what they're about to tangle with...
Anima, Ch.60: Judging Blades
Author: Shaeli
Server: Mari
Mistaking a shapeshifted Meara for an actual fox pilfering the abandoned Tir Chonaill, three certain Alban Knights on patrol attack what they think is a rabid animal, and instead find themselves facing down a diabolic force of nature. Meara tries to reason with them, but the Knights can't see past their duty: to eliminate anything foreign to their world, and here before them stands something that very clearly fits that criteria.
Unfortunately for the Knights, they don't know what they're dealing with. Meara subdues them with a show of magical force and gives them a piece of her mind, but they merely withdraw to reconsider their options...
So,the next volume will be out on the next weekend;see you there!

Years ago, on the dark night when Meara's beloved had perished from a literal kiss of death, she had fled into Rabbie dungeon looking for answers and found them in the words of the succubus Lynnira. But Lynnira would not let Meara go again unless she agreed to be bound to an oath, to return one day and grant Lynnira a favor.
That day is today, and little did Meara know that favor was to grant a death wish. But as soon as Meara grants this grim request, and returns to Dunbarton, a mysterious blue humanoid creature attacks her, a monster that shrugs off ordinary magic and seems unstoppable...
