Hammer Of Durability

It is said that I can use a golden hammer of durability only a single time on one item. What about the other hammers? Let us say, I fail to repair something, and I want to bring it back to its maximum durability, will I be able to bring it back to its full durability with, let us say a platinum hammer of durability?
