That usually depends on who still LIKES the game after all of that training ^_^

Instead of vehemently hating the living cupcake out of mabinogi and yet still logging in every day for the sake of addiction. That's usually the point xD

Most people who still log in should've quit years ago instead of breaching contract and trying to defend themselves afterwards

also that bear thing. :') Please don't do that to anyone who looks too weak to fend them off. //flashbacks to when I was a new player.
But, unfortunately that doesn't provide solid evidence that the player is botting either. Not everyone speaks english, and some players are extremely shy/solonogi, so talking to them might not work either.
Yeah I stopped saying hi back to people after someone who did suddenly start talking about -Removed- related stuff and then proceed to killing all spiders at Tir's graveyard when I was afk collecting cowebs.....Luring the bear is a rude way too. I hate people who do that.

How badly you need to be shy/rude and so on in order to not say that 1 simple word? And then "this community is terrible, i'm getting ignored, no one talks with me, i don't get any help" threads flood in. Not every guy that you talk with will bring up -Removed- up, if he does, just blacklist or ask him to not talk about it. Geez...
Also after this Music Q update, i randomly met really huge amount of players with Freestyle Jams. All of them were very polite and friendly, i rarely find people that make me feel uncomfortable. If i do, i just assume i found a troll or a kid that thinks it is cool to act that way, so i just blacklist them.

In my belief, we should stop enabling people regardless of most disabilities and expect basic necessities, like responding to a "Hi". If you get banned and you're too shy to say "Hi", I'd say a great deal of blame probably rests on you.

I encountered many rude people that now I tend to not talk to random people unless they are specifically asking for help. Stop assuming everyone can be social. Each person is different.

How do we far in comparison to BnS then? Same genre, no training requirement for skills yet they still thrive. How about Maplestory? No training requirement. Instead they implement their grinding into other things like actual content and gear grinding. There is so little payoff for mabi's skill training yet the requirements for advancing skills aren't hard but they are tedious and take forever.

What about a person who spends $500 on training seals in comparison from someone who trains endlessly? Or purchases all of their pots? Who's to say a person who is actually active in their 8 hour training isn't making any profit from it in comparison to someone who has a macro pushing a button?

Never played BnS, so I can't say

Classic Maplestory was way more grindier than Mabinogi ever was. It was so grindy that bots alone were not an effective way to cheat at the game. Players using vac hacks in tandem with bots was the norm for cheaters.

And yet, Maplestory was massively successful. Even with its grindiness.

I agree that there is very little payoff for training Ninja, but that does not justify widespread botting. The training itself is not that bad. Whether or not the training is worth the skills + stats is another debate, but it shouldn't be related to this one.

I see a lot of people complaining about training requirements (presumably about Ninja). They are boring, but they aren't unfair. It took me about 3 days (not total hours, just days) to get a Master title in Ninja. In Classic Maplestory, it took me 3 days of grinding to go from lvl 60-61. This is probably a hard reference to get if you've never played the game, but I'll just say that 1 level in Maplestory is worth much less than mastering a talent in Mabinogi.

I am sorry to jump in but I am one of those people who doesn't always say 'hello' back because of experiences I have had. Alot of the time when I respond back to a guy it's a sign for them to hit on me. And then your stuck with someone who comments "You;re cute xD" "I like you :)" "U r hot". It's not happened all the time but it;s get's tiring when people can't read the title above my head and assume it's okay to hit on me. (I ALWAYS wear my marriage title) I just don't like dealing with it. I know not everyone is like that, but it's happened to me more times than I can count.

Weird, no one hits on me, been forever. I must be really ugly :c Now i'm worried why...
Now i know why some people are way too silent, i feel bad for them, you guys should do something about those pervs/trolls.

This is weird. The responses to not report suspected botting rests on the less than cynical assumption that not all players bot but are shy (A Non-Cynical Assumption), but when it comes to saying "Hi", the other assumption is that everyone is trying to hit on you (A Cynical Assumption)

    I don't quite understand this.

In my belief, common courtesy extends to everyone regardless of "perceived" intention. You are not a mind reader. None of us are. Saying "Hi" or a meager knowledge of someone else's existence is common courtesy, regardless of the anonymity of MMOs.

Except people who skill bot don't hate the game. They just hate training.

I think there is an importance on how the grinding is executed. Nowadays there aren't really payoffs to have such tedious requirements for training. Besides of you dont have the gaming skill or experience to play mabi it really doesnt matter if your ranks are high if you dont know how to use them in combat. If your ranks are low you can still wipe the floor with ninja if you can play the class properly.

I just don't think this is such a pressing issue as people make it to be. There are legitimate changes nexon can make to combat to make skill botting to make it less relevant, but they and everyone else seem to have no problems with the skill requirements outside of those who bot.

I usually get straight to the point.

    Me: "Howdy"
    Person: (no response)
    Me: "Are you a bot?"

If you ask them right away there's no chance of scaring anybody. Or making them think you're a creep

What if a person replies 'yes.' How, then, would you tell whether or not they are actually botting or being sarcastic?

The reason I brought that up was to show that grindy does not = bad. And you can't blame Mabinogi's diminishing playerbase on grindy skill training when the game has consistently gotten easier.

Nexon can make botting less relevant by clamping down on botters. That's all they need to do. A significant portion of this community defends botting by saying training is too tedious, but there are no skills grindy enough to justify this argument. They are botting. Botting is against the rules. They should get punished.

I think your best bet in that scenario would be to call them a "big fat liar" and then CC

Thats not a permanent fix though.

Sure some people will stop, what happens if people just quit, they get sneakier at botting, or they start using a more offensive means to get what they want.

With x2 training, Smokescreen takes approximately 7 hours to bring from r2 to r1. That's only assuming you're using the skill at the precise second the cooldown ends.
