Taillteann Farming

Taillteann farming has become obsolete almost the moment it was created. When it first came out, it was an OK gold income, but now it's clearly outdated and needs an update or revamp. Mabinogi caters towards afk players by creating afk events and rewards, why are you also punishing them for trying to make gold in a legitimate way? Farming was a cool idea, I want to see it get updates and become relevant again.
Sometimes players just want to hang back and stop grinding, or they can't afford repairs anymore (whatever excuse you got) and farming was a nice alternative to that.

The usual 1 week and long action cooldowns are part of the problem people have turned away from this activity. People prefer convenience without having to waste long periods of times to do this activity.

There could be various upgrades and incentives made to farming as can be done with other functions of the game.

In one of the threads about commerce, I and others have suggested having an automated supply and demand system and system events that would affect supply, demand, and market pricing.

If farming can also have a better market system other than the weekly pricing, in a way make it more fun for people to participate and make it worth farming.

For example, if combined or modeled separately after the commerce system, farmers could have the choice of either selling directly to Blatt who would pay at market price, or the farmer can be contracted to sell/deliver a crop to a certain location. A player can also give a delivery contract to other players to make a delivery in a commerce system where they are unable to use personal mounts or portals and cont warp. They'll be treated the same as commerce subject to bandit attacks and perhaps in a further upgrade attacks from other animals/monsters etc.

When farming, decrease cooldowns and the time it takes for crops to mature. Even if crop maturity time is not changed, at least make it more efficient to run the actions which will allow players to do other things. Add other things/events that would affect farming. Such as some Fomorian raiders are in the area pillaging and burning the land and if players don't respond to defend their field, they will lose that crop. Or a pack of wild animals are ravaging the fields. Or a prolonged drought causing crop failure.

People also want to make use of their crops in homesteads, maybe give the choice of converting homestead crops into a small amount of trad able resources limited quota so it cannot be abused and used in a similar way to sell or deliver.

Add more varieties of crops including the ones that are harvested for cooking/crafting and maybe even add orchards.

There are multiple ways to make these activities more fun. It's a lot to request, but at least hoping they consider these feedback.

Isn't farming behind a pay wall? If so that's probably why it's dead.

Currently you can only farm if you have service. I dont know why ... it's not like it's providing anything extra anyways. Make it available for everyone?

I agree. There are a lot of ways that farming could be made relevant again. In it's current state the only reason it's behind a paywall is because it's brain-dead enough for bots to be able to be masters at it. They should change the reward to be items which can be useful and have more depth than just a gold payout. Even a couple of stacks of potatoes would be more rewarding.

The Tailltean farming got behind paywall because of bots abusing it. Yup. What we have now is because bots ruined it.

Which shows that it only takes one person (erm, a bunch of people) to ruin the fun of others. Conflict's gold reward was nerfed because of people who do that.
Battle for tailteann 2 (Bft2) and shadow wizard are still viable gold farming methods; with the former having a high gold-reward base for something that can be quickly finished in 5 minutes per run.

But I do agree that it would be nice for the Tailteann shadow missions to be reworked. No one is willing to go to Tail to do missions unless they have to do storyline, need to level up for content like Baltane and Finnachaid, or they have elite passes to spam for shadow wiz.

It's a valid point, but online gaming is decades old now; they really should have anticipated that from the get go and designed it differently.

Which is also a reason why prices for commerce has never really recovered, because bots abused commerce at the same time they abused farming to the point of no return.
