Suggested New Pet: Norwegian Blue Parrot

When the pet is first summoned, it appears to be unconscious. However, phoenix feathers have no effect on the parrot. That is, it seems the parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If he wasn't nailed to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!!

The pet's skill window shows it has the special skill "Pining for the fjords." Since it is not possible to revive the parrot, it is not clear what this skill does.

To compensate in some small measure for the parrot's inactivity, it has a 10x10 inventory.

On 2nd thoughts, there may be copyright issues with this pet. I withdraw the suggestion.

Does it come already dead with a hole in it's foot like Jesus? If you take it to an NPC shop can you trade it in for a talking slug?

Does one activate it with 4000 volts?

No, that's how one makes it go "foom".

Heh heh. I knew I could count on a few forum participants knowing where this idea came from and joining in. In my original post, I should have thought to include the suggestion that if a player uses shock while the pet is summoned, a system message should appear reporting "The parrot fails to go voom", or perhaps "foom" depending on which of the many online transcripts you consult.

And if anyone out there is still trying to figure out what the rest of us are referring to, try here

The irony of it all is, of course, that these internet chatrooms ARE the right room for an argument.

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to argue unless you pay up.
