Please add support for Linux/MacOS to Mabinogi.

It seems the game is quite close to running on Linux, with the only issue being the anti-cheat not being compatible. There are several other anti cheats available that work on Linux. I would like to be able to play on Steam Deck or to boot Linux on my laptop and play Mabinogi, Proton is almost enough aside from the Anti-Cheat problem.

MacOS support would also be nice. Proton/DXVK + MoltenVK might work.

Either they would need to port the game and maintain it, which means hiring a team dedicated to that, or they would need to find a commercial emulator to partner with; playing nice with freeware emulators isn't gonna happen.

Related discussion from like half a decade here but they wouldn't need to port the game at all for x86-64 Linux and MacOS (non-ARM based) platforms. It's really just the anti-cheat at this point.

For Steam Deck there is a workaround, I've been running windows 10 off an SD card on mine and it runs mabinogi as flawlessly as someone can run mabinogi on such a low resolution screen. (Good luck with bag organization).

It's a pretty simple process to anyone that can operate a computer past surface level. Although I agree I'd rather not have to use workarounds, just let me run this thing natively.

I could see it happening when the Eternity Update is done. Honestly though with all the bad decisions Windows has been making lately Mabinogi is the only thing keeping me locked on this crappy operating system. Definitely gonna try a Linux if Mabinogi gets full Linux support.

If something is compiled to run in Windows, it won't just run in anything else. You either have to port it, that is recompile it for other operating systems, after making the necessary adjustments to the code and dealing with any commercial code libraries they may have used for the Windows install, so that it can run natively on them, or you have to run in inside an emulator which pretends to be Windows running on a host operating system. Something like WINE just skips pretending to be Windows and translates the instructions on-the-fly. So, it's basically emulation but without all the frou frou.
