Cutting the number of channels

In the past months we have all been seeing a huge number of threads demanding server merges. It would be the ideal solution, but until they figure that out, we need other ways to handle the problem at hand: small and scattered playerbases.

This suggestion might get a lot of hate but it is honestly the most immediate fix they could adopt. Cut the number of channels on each server.
3 channels are enough for small servers. Alexina might still need more, but honestly if their numbers are shrinking as much as they claim, 5 would be plenty.

This could be inconvenient for field bosses and raids (as there will be less), as well as other things. But if people complain on a daily basis, they should be ready to accept compromise.

I would prefer that we maybe start with just getting rid of two channels to start. Go with 5 channels and see what the population density is like then. That way, Nexon can check on things gradually and not have to re-add channels which they might have to do if they just go to 3 channels. If 5 channels is too much space then they can cut down, but cutting our server space in half right off the bat sounds like a bad idea.

To be honest, if this were at the peak of Mabinogi popularity, 5 would seem reasonable. Unfortunately, even in channel 7 of Tarlach as the "Market" channel, there's far too much open shop space compared to the past, where you literally had to cram your shop into a very small space or beyond the wall of Dunbarton. For now cutting down to 3 or 4 channels each server should be enough until every old feature is fully revamped, improved, and old players have regained interest again while new players begin to find Mabinogi more appealing than something on Aeria Games. Until then, the channels we need will continuously drop at a drastic rate as years go by...or until Mabinogi is no longer gaining an income to support the servers.

For Ruairi, the Market channel is 1. Furthermore, as I previously said, it would be better to start with just five and then they could parse it from there. It would probably be a lot simpler to remove the channels than adding more in the event too many have been taken. However, this action could vary by server in terms of population density. Ruairi, Tarlach and Mari are all on par with one another in terms of population, but Alexina has a greater one. So, perhaps start with four channels for Ruairi, Tarlach and Mari and five channels for Alexina.

The hardware the channels run off of are toasters, and as we've seen in the last night or so, they die.

Also Nexon mutilated Alexina's servers years ago and left us with 5 channels. There was lag every single day, monsters would freeze, dungeon doors would stop functioning, and it would seem time would just stop from the server trying to pull itself together after being eviscerated by Vindictus.

I also second.. third? Whichever number we are by of agreeance that we should cut down to 5 channels. That's what we had in the "good ol' days", and could work now.
