It's likely just a legal update that the lawyers of nexon put out there. Wasn't the update to the ToS across all games? I doubt it has to do with anything in specific like botting or multiclienting but rather just a flaw in the terms used that their legal team found. Just my 2 cents, I didn't read and compare what's actually updated.

Pretty much everything has been getting that ToS update recently. Reddit, Imgur, pretty much every mmo I play. Not sure what it is, but it can't be that vital.

It seems they have updated their privacy policy update regarding data handling, given the aftermath of the Cambridge scandal with Facebook. I believe there are several new laws that require internet vendors to publicize how exactly they will handle user information. Everyone from Discord to Reddit to MyAnimelist to Crunchyroll is doing so.

All of the updates to ToS are because of the new EU law about Data protection

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Data_Protection_Regulation

It went into effect recently, on May 25, 2018.

I'm still a little fuzzy on what it does, but I think part of it is that you're supposed to state specifically what you use your customer's data for. And I think there might also be a ban on certain individuals under a certain age from certain websites. Like, if you live in the EU and you're under the age of 16, you can no longer access certain services because they are required, by law, not to keep data they got from children. Because children cannot consent to give their data.

Here is a link to a list of what age constitutes online consent per country:

    https://www.betterinternetforkids.eu/web/portal/practice/awareness/detail?articleId=3017751

Italy, for example, has their age of consent at 14.

Obviously, this mostly affects only individuals living in Europe, but companies that have customers around the world have to edit their ToS regardless of whether their company's home base is in the EU or not.

Thanks for being so thorough helping us to understand. Usually when a company updates their ToS they specify and make note what is changed.
