  • which server are you moving to?

Moved from Alexina to Nao for merchant reasons. I can't understand at all why people would be upset about a population increase. Not noticing any lag or related issues myself.

As for population, at least from a merchant perspective, I can confirm that Nao has 5-10x as much economic activity as Alexina. The auction house has so many useful items that Alexina can't compare, and Nao even has regular shops! Enough to fill an entire channel so thoroughly that there's no space left.

As a comparison, I sought out to acquire Ultimate Geas Armor. On Alexina, I checked the Auction House dozens of times a day, and bought every Hard Mineral that popped up, yet it still took me 5-6 months to get the 15 required. After the merge, I created a new character on Nao. There are so many Tech Duinn materials circulating on the auction house that I could make the same Ultimate Geas armor 3 times over, and I've only been here a week. The Literature Tab has dozens of each skill book, even rarer ones, providing competition to keep prices down. Even if the population is only slightly larger, the economy on Nao is far more active. Players seem to do things more, and produce more stuff.

I see no downside to there being an increase in players, and I don't understand people leaving Nao behind because it's 'too active'. o.o

Ah, as for catching up, the Master Plan is taking care of that. I blew through memoirs during 10x AP, rebirthing for each quest. Ended the day with over 50k AP. I also Mastered Engineering and Magic Craft during the 10x Skill Training, after having gathered materials for about 5 days. Even if you missed the 10x event, there's PLENTY of time to grow for anyone moving from either server. In addition to the many weeks of 2x AP and 2x training, there'll be quests giving out 2x Complete Skill Potions, and other useful things to help players grow very quickly, as well as many ways to earn good money, either selling materials or selling event rewards.

  • Cooking Guide

A few extra tips for ranking and using Cooking:

If you're a level 200 Chef talent, you can clear each rank using ONLY food or ONLY the book. Your choice.
Any combination of Chef Tool Reforges, Homestead House Cooking Research Bonus, Level 100+ Chef Talent Bonus can be used to reach 2.00x or higher for the same effect.

Some people aren't aware, but having a Flying Food Truck (or any variant of it) summoned while cooking doubles your training counts.

The Cooking GUI that's already in the game makes for a very nice ruler. Each of the 3 'Add' buttons covers 30% of the bar, with the spaces between them being 5% each. The word 'Add' on the buttons takes up very close to 10% of the bar, effectively dividing each button into 3 10% sections ideal for measuring. Even just this allows for 4-5 star dishes frequently, if not every single try, even on complex recipes.

  • Please Update Alchemy

I was incredibly disappointed to find that Shock is completely disabled in the new Tech Duinn dungeon. More and more monsters and dungeons are adding monsters completely immune to sand burst, rain casting, shock, frozen blast, and other useful alchemy skills. It's being reduced to just flame burst and water cannon, and water cannon's just a worse firebolt in any situation.

Alchemy wasn't designed to have high DoT. It's a toolbox, full of powerful crowd-control utilities and monster positioning skills. Even it's trademark damage skill, Flame Burst, has incredible potential in its area-of-effect stun-lock. It doesn't need to out-damage final hit, magnum, full-swing, etc to be good.

What alchemy really needs is to return to its roots, and provide useful crowd-control and utility skills to support parties, or add versatility to solo-play with Guard Cylinders + 1-hand weapon. And, most importantly, the skills need to be relevant, or even usable, in recent end-game content.

  • Hero Talents and Level Bonus

Yep! I levelled to 200 using memoirs as a battle-chef hero talent, so that I could train all of cooking without doing cooking dungeon. At the same time, I took advantage of the level bonus to also rank up windmill and some other combat skills.
