  • Pet Adventurer Guide

Grinding isn't an option for a vast majority of the playerbase, and the oil having -no- direct way to grind.
    ...
Take a look at old items from the dragon raids. Most of which are more expensive than current materials.

To add onto these two points: Let's not forget that the Oil is mandatory for the Stage 1 Large Pet Pasture, like Iyasenu mentioned. I (among other people) are screwed out of being able to rest large pets because of this, until the Oil drops in price. Assuming it ever even does. This is especially frustrating whenever you have very few higher level pets, and some of those happen to be large pets, which means you wind up having to hold off on sending them anywhere in the hopes of a special expedition showing up. Or just bite the bullet and send your large pets out, only to kick yourself later when a special expedition pops up and you literally cannot take it because you can't remove the fatigue off your pets.

The rarity of the oil / special expeditions wouldn't even bother me if the Stage 1 Large Pasture didn't require it. Hell, I'd even take a stat-less "lite" version of the first stage if it meant I could rest my large pets without having to obtain oil. I'd even accept it if I had to grind even more Artificial Turf just for this decision, to eventually upgrade the pasture from Stage 0 > Stage 1 > Stage 2. Would it be annoying to grind? Sure, but I'd accept it over what we have. Alternatively: a new pet house altogether that was universal--it'd rest any pet regardless of type. Again, would not mind if it was stat-less and could only house one pet at a time. Just as long as it could house large pets, and did not need oil to make.

    ---

As far as the actual prices for the Oil on the market? Comparing KR to NA is not always accurate. We have a different community and different economy with different factors leading up to that. You should not expect the prices of the Oil to drop to "reasonable levels" on our servers just because they did over in KR. You shouldn't even expect the same price trends between NA's servers. Taking dragon raid materials as an example for that last point: Even between Mari and Nao (and unfortunately, I cannot comment on other servers), prices varied wildly. Black Dragon Heart? I saw it consistently listed for around 20mil or so on Mari, post-Auction House update. 20mil. For an item that has been in the game for many years. An item from a raid which people still farm, if the pop-up text is anything to go by. Since the server merge, that price has only skyrocketed. Now, any time I look, it's been almost always anywhere from 100-200mil. All because three different servers, with three inherently different markets, got merged into one. It's been, what? A year since that merge? And the price is still up there.

My point of that rant is just to show an example: You cannot always rely on something being consistent between the various servers. Some things can be vastly different, and as far as the market goes? Things might be way higher on one server, or plummet way lower on another. Or even the rate, or timing of when each price shift happens will vary between servers. There's no guarantee the Oil will ever be realistically low enough on our servers for the people who cannot afford to drop several million gold for a single pet house stage.

Don't get me wrong. I understand it's not supposed to be easy. I understand this whole thing was designed to be grindy. I do not expect that to ever change. I just wish there was an alternative for large pets that didn't require the oil. And I don't like for something to be handled with "the price will drop eventually" in mind, whenever that's not always the case. I can only hope that either something changes for the better in-game, or that predictions of it dropping to ~100k like KR are accurate (and doesn't take an obscene amount of time to do so).

This event is easy as HELL. you don't even have to kill the wolves yourself, just get an AOE pet hit on all them, just a single hit and you'll get snacks when someone ELSE kills them. PILES of snacks at your feet for simply summoning a pet and playing dead. If no one else is around to kill them for you, then lure one away from the pack with a ranged weapon. You get like 2-6 snacks per kill so you only need to kill or get hits on 1-3 wolves. Why is anyone even thinking of complaining about this event?

Because most days they die before you can even get to them. Take just a little bit ago for example. Not even 30 seconds after they spawned, they were already all gone. Because people spam AoE Chain Blade skills, FH, and Crash Shot..Please tell me how that is supposed to be fair? How is it fair that if you're so much as just 30 seconds late, you miss out on that hour's spawn? When the wolves only spawn once per hour and only in one location?

I'd let the issue with the wolf spawns go if that weren't the case. Exploits aside, you can only use a max of 6 snacks. So why are the spawns so limited? There's absolutely no reason to have the spawns so limited when you can't farm infinite snacks. And if anyone says anything about them wanting people online: they also have the Timed Item event going. There's still reason for people to be on for stupid amounts of time. Especially when you can't just kill something to make the timer go faster. This event is largely flawed.

    ---

The way I see it, two major things needed to be changed before they released this event:
    1) The sheep wolves need to be changed in some way. Either have them spawn in more than one location (outside of every Uladh town, like some previous events), have them spawn much more frequently (10-36 minutes as opposed to every hour), or make it to where they don't die, like the Max Rabbits. Given the theme of the sheep wanting to defeat the wolves, I imagine the first two options would be preferable.

    2) Either extend the event out so we have more days to complete it (which would be preferable for people who miss some days), make the snacks give static amounts of growth instead of the RNG cm it is now, and/or increase the amount of cm each snack gives. Or just give us days where we can get special snacks that do more, like on the weekends. Just something to make this event fair. What's someone supposed to do if they participate and get 6 snacks each and every day, yet still fail to get 500cm because RNG decided they'd consistently roll low on the cm?

And no. No I don't see them changing the event now that it's already running. They didn't with the Legendary Item event, so I have doubts they would with this one. But one can hope that they'd make future events fairer to the players instead of this. If anything, though, I'm at least still glad that the RP mission was surprisingly pleasant to do. Still doesn't make up for the rest of the event, but I'll take a silver lining where I can get it.

The RP mission is probably the only good thing about this event. Well, and getting a pet out of it (assuming you manage to reach 500cm before it ends). It was unexpectedly pleasant. Personally, when it comes to combat-oriented things, I'd prefer more things like it. Where watching and paying attention to skills is a lot more important than just out-DPS'ing something. It felt completely fair. As long as you understood the skills and when to use them, you could do it just fine. No extreme multi-aggro or long range / instant aggro like modern content. And yet, because of the low health of the sheep, you still couldn't overly take too many hits. Which is fine. The wolves didn't do extremely high damage. It's actually fair for once.

It doesn't really make up for how the rest of the event was handled, but at least it was something that was actually enjoyable for once.

Dont like it - don't do it.

I'm still surprised people actually complain over something that takes just a moment or few minutes. I would have understood the complaints over Kemono Friends event, but not on this one. You literally had to wait for Fleta to spawn and do other mediocre tasks which took to do for 10-20 minutes (if you speed run it) every day. Why no one complained over that?

"Don't do it." So I'm supposed to... what? Miss out on event rewards just because I don't like the event itself? That's no excuse for bad events. I'm not even asking for the event to be enjoyable--the last time I've actually enjoyed one was probably back in 2015-16. I just want the events to feel fair. The sheep event is objectively not fair. This isn't a matter of just missing out because people don't participate. This is a matter of event progression being tied directly to RNG, meaning that if you consistently roll low on the sheep snacks, you. Will. Not. Complete. The. Event. On top of expecting people to be on for 6 hours. Not a few minutes. 6. Whole. Hours. How is that fair to people who can't be on that long every single day of an event? Oh, and let's not forget that this isn't the only game that likes to do things like this. So I guess people are just screwed if they happen to play multiple games that want you to be on for several hours a day, right? Who needs to go to work or school or whatever other responsibilities people have in life, right?

Kemono Friends wasn't fun either. But you weren't guaranteed to get Fleta's quest. And even if you did, it takes less than half an hour to deal with her. Unlike the sheep event, which, let me repeat myself: takes 6 whole hours to do every day. It's just as bad as the Phoenix Egg event. The giant sheep wolves don't make up for this event at all. Not when the wolves are dead before I can even hit a single one. Not when they literally only spawn once every hour, and only in Dunbarton. Why can't they spawn every half hour? Or in all of Uladh's towns and not just Dunbarton, like other events? Then it wouldn't be as bad. I'd even take the Max Rabbits over this because people couldn't hog the spawns when the spawns can't die, and that's coming from someone who didn't even like how the rabbits were handled either.

Let's not forget that there's some people out there who kill event enemies even when they don't need to, and don't care if they just leave event items on the ground despite other people needing them. It happened with the slimes in the last event every so often, and the pillow fight events, and it still happens with this event. I don't know what Alexina's like, but I saw this happen on Mari, and I continue to see it happen on Nao. So, no. Most people do not have the option of just finishing the event in "a few minutes" whenever most of the wolves are gone to Chain Sweep, Meteor, FH, or whatever other skill people decide to use to mass kill event enemies.

Congratulations, you got me to rant about an awful event.

I am also getting rather tired of the way they're handling events. I get it, they want people to be online. But the way the events have been going the past several months have just been steadily driving me away from the game. I used to actually play Mabi. Now I just want to do anything I can to get away from this game, barring fully quitting.

And it's events like this and the Timed Item event that kill my desire to play the game. Why can we only feed the sheep 6 times a day? Why does it take a full hour to get one snack? Why is the only way to bypass waiting the extremely limited sheep wolf spawn, which only spawns once per hour, and only in Dunbarton? With the Timed Item Event, why on Earth do we have to press a button every hour? With no sound effect to even let us know it's done? I'd be willing, if still frustrated, to at least leave the game running while I sleep, but I can't just do that because I have to press the button every hour. And this isn't even getting into the other issues I've had with the game lately, but I'd rather not go on a full-scale rant.

I wonder if there's anyone who would choose a normal-sized sheep when presented with both tiny and giant options.

I also wonder what kind of abilities the sheep have, and whether all sizes have the same stats/abilities.

I would also like to know what the stats are, and I would hope they're all the same. But I wouldn't put it past them to make the petite sheep be essentially like another mini thunderbird with a 2x2 inventory. I hope it isn't, but I wouldn't be surprised with this game anymore.
