  • Do something about alt-abuse

We can have that talk after they do a multi-clienter ban wave. You and a lot of these players need to realize you aren't entitled to anything. Just because the drop rates are low, doesn't justify people to cheat the system. It may be completely okay to use 8 laptops according to TOS but that's clearly not what's going on here.

I think (You) are projecting because you're still mad they made ego hailstorm functionally mage fullswing and it's actually useful now because you were still seething about it on the website formerly known as justin tv a decade later. Also I don't see how getting my kraken heart during the millionaire max keys event running with my gf makes me "entitled" to anything lol, I just do runs during events or when guildies ask, I don't have all waking day and night to spend dragging mules through missions.

I don't have to be one of these spooky scary "multi-clienters" you want to strawman me as because I dare point out the real problem that causes people to do it. Game design is my dayjob kid and let me tell you the only reason the drop rates are so low and it's so easy for people to run multiple accounts is the poisonous mindset in this industry that you have to make players into fanatics and "whales" addicted to the "rare drop" and "have the best/most (X)" so they'll buy more "gachapons" and you can inflate the activity numbers to shareholders. It's all about preying on addictive personality disorder just the same as the social media "upvotes" and "likes" system, the truth is with this ideology and monetization system, you as a company want the multibox users because they're the biggest addicts buying the microtransactions and that's what the shareholders want, addicts not players. Unfortunately too many of my peers are happy to give them their addicts, instead of making a good product that does well on it's own merits and has a respectable monetization model that gives the player the dignity of being a human being and not just a wallet that logs in to spend, instead of abusing people with addictive personality disorder.

Based on all of our previous interactions though I do not believe (You) are here to have a good faith discussion on the problem and only want to incite flame wars based on false accusations. Telling me to "go make my thread" is pointless because I'm here yet again pointing out to the people mad about "bots" the actual problem with the game which causes the "bots" they take issue with and that spending their time and effort demanding bans won't fix the problem because the bad design that makes people desire to do it is still there and no matter how restrictive a publisher tries to be people will work around it. They want to see the same changes I'm working to make in the industry but they're only familiar with the symptoms they see ingame and need to understand the actual root cause of it all where they're already paying attention.
Maybe if (You) care about the game and the players though and not just childish flaming and bad faith screaming ban everyone you disagree with while making things up about them because (You) are holding a decade long grudge that keeps you awake at night against them for saying a skill you don't like in a video game should be less bad, (You) will make the thread with understanding of the predatory nature of the game design and monetization model and come up with compassionate solutions that respect the player base and continue to make the service enough of a profit to stay running. Unfortunately I can only increase awareness of the real problems, providing solutions that touch on monetization would violate my non-compete, but that's saying the quiet part out loud.

I can only hope that people who aren't Chrolls and actually care about the game and community understand and take to heart the problems and give their own feedback to the people who need to hear it.

  • Let elves duel wield/use 2h weapons

Stat/skill based weapon restrictions work alright in single player games but in rolling update MMOs like Mabinogi it will just become another forgotten system whos balance is thrown out the window by stat creep like demonic weapons tried to be.
As for dual wield, a lot of people are oddly fixated on it when it's been in the shadow of 2H for over a decade and I doubt they would actually even use it if it was added raw in the current state, a full overhaul to dual wield melee for all races would be a much better thing to ask for in my opinion and something I'd like to see myself too.
Elves can use the best 2H sword in the game already, Soluna Blade, in the meantime Celtic Royal Warrior Axe/Hammer are also 2H options for elves sans the piercing levels, there is a lot of 2H they can't equip sure but they're mostly outdated filler tier equipment that isn't worth investing into heavily (though I wish that wasn't the case and all these weapons could have meaningful differences instead of new thing best all around every time but that's also just MMO logic).

  • Steam Deck support!

Mabinogi it's self has run perfectly in WINE (one of the building blocks of Valve's Proton) for over a decade now, the actual inhibitor to running it on the Steam Deck is blackcipher running in kernel space (Ring 0) like a hardware driver would and WINE not emulating an NT kernel but rather being a win32 API implementation for unix-like systems. While Mabinogi it's self will run, due to blackcipher you either won't be able to log in or will be kicked off the game within a few minutes if you do try to run it on the Steam Deck (or other GNU/Linux operating system).
In less technical terms, Mabinogi will run on the Steam Deck but the anticheat won't, there are plenty of anticheat systems which will run it but getting devcat to use them instead of their in house blackcipher is unlikely to ever happen. Short of a huge push from the Korean player base to move away from proprietary western operating systems like Windows, or just straight push for Linux/Steam Deck support but I don't personally see either happening, until Microsoft starts alienating it's users on mass.

    Either way, you have a few options in the meantime;
Streaming Mabinogi from a desktop or laptop running Windows to the Steam Deck. If you're a Zoomer and your only PC is a Steam Deck because you've grown up only ever having a smartphone, you can invest into a second hand/business cast off minipc desktop for this purpose since Mabinogi's system requirements are pretty low, research "project tinyminimicro" for a starting place.
Buying a cheap M.2 SATA/NVME drive and USB enclosure for it off ebay/amazon/etc and installing Windows to that to boot the Steam Deck into Windows without wiping SteamOS off the internal storage.
Or the more technical and least viable option of running Windows in KVM and setting up single GPU passthrough to use the APU IGP with it and scripting handing it off back to the host OS when Windows is shut down.
    BONUS:
Waiting for virtio-gpu venus to be developed further and have a Windows guest driver developed and use DXVK for translating Mabinogi's DX11 to Vulkan to run it in KVM without IGP passthrough.

I must've glanced over this, glad to see the forums don't change. It's pretty easy to make gold, but I suppose people still think 40k isn't needed, when in reality it's adding an extra 130 max if you're an elf. Granted getting to 40k isn't exactly easy, but it's still one of the largest damage boosts you can get as well as getting an echostone too.

Really even getting 40k isn't that hard now:

less than 3 years of casual play on this character, leveling has been totally trivialized since baltane and blaanid combined with all the rebirth and forgetful potion handouts combined with the endless barrage of baltane elite passes and 2x exp from fishing or straight up afk handout events, oh and the buff to GM cleric making it give a free 50% mob exp in parties.
