I just wish Elves can at least wield 2 handed swords...

Elves can use Soluna Blade too. You could go for the Life Exploration Fishing rod if want a 2h that can double bash on an Elf that doesn't take several years of solo grinding to craft, it can't get special upgrades though so it's a bit of a deadend, also functions as if it were a blunt not a sword. I could say a bit more on melee Elf but it's off topic so I'll spoiler it if anyone is interested.
Personally though I would suggest going with an ego Frosted Borealis Hammer and an Avon shield, upgrading to a Divine Shield when possible if you're super serious about melee on Elf to activate the bonus 7% crit damage and 30% dura use reduction since you can't hold 2 hammers or 2 Celtic Royal Knight Swords, it maintains the 1.1x charge damage boost the same as Avon as well.

You get double bash since Borealis is normal speed, higher max than CRK, about half the repair fee, and much better erg upgrade (50 min/max, 25 all defenses, 8% auto defense, and a quite considerable 25% cooldown reduction to (non-race exclusive but Elf doesn't have any) close combat skills.
Frosted Borealis Hammer will end up with 173 max displayed on the weapon if crafted by a GM dan 3 smith on smithing talent that gets the max bonus from the minigame after upgrades+erg, blunt mastery boosts that by another 30 vs sword mastery's 20, 5 points into both Spirit Training and Spirit Control will net a further 40 max damage netting 243 max before even enchanting it or reforging. 1H R type bonus is lower at r7 only 50% compared to 2H R type giving 74%, but ego will give 15% regardless of weapon type so you can still get a solid +65% crit damage with your hammer, 72% if you manage to get a hold of a Divine Shield.

So considering the 2h Celtic hammer/axe can't double bash, Life Exploration rod can't get special upgrades, and Soluna is out of reach reasonably, Borealis Hammer is really the way to go on an Elf in my opinion. I didn't mention that ego can boost bash's multiplier by 20% (additive) and one of the ultimates is 50% to recover 10% hp (not wound) from any close combat skill use which helps make up for elves having lower base defense and lower str/will caps for added defense/mdef.

Some extra final notes, you can use Broken Horn Hunter helm+glove+boot to get a full 10 points of smash enhance to boost that by 1.15x, and normally reforging a 1H limits you to a max roll of 10 for smash damage, but you can bypass this by rolling a higher smash damage line on a Red Echostone (if you roll 20 level on a grade 30 echostone and have smash enhance set on you'll reach 943% smash multiplier with dan 3 using 1H or 1012% if you roll smash 3 on two accessories ontop of that) and using your hammer's reforge slot to roll for max damage 10 (+20) instead or charge damage 10 (+15% additive to base multiplier per level, 10 level will more than double the damage from dan 3 charge on Elf and Human making it a more viable skill to use, particularly with cooldown 20 on helm to reduce it to 5 seconds, 3.75 seconds with erg 50 hammer's cooldown reduction applied on top of that, or maybe 2.5s if erg is applied before reforge I haven't tested this yet so I'm unsure the order.)

  • *gasps* ...ANOTHER Habi-Thread...! (SEO for Mabi)

SEO doesn't work the same in 2016+4 as it did in the 90s the spiders basically don't care about keywords or spamming related websites with your link anymore, it's all about dumping cash into advertisements that more and more people just block, and paying for integrations with independent talking head "Youtubers" and "Streamers" with large followings which to be fair Nexon NA doesn't do.
You also need to consider computer MMO RPGs are falling out of popularity in favor of "MOBA" (PVP Tower Defense) and the resurgence of (Team) Death Match under the Zoomer termed "Battle Royale" because they're more pick up and play/braindead genres and don't require the investment of an RPG combined with the fact the average American works more than a medieval serf just to live in a 1 room apartment full of black mold and roaches and an empty fridge with 50 grand in college debts to get their minimum wage job.
There isn't a "Silver bullet" that will make Mabi "more active" or have "full channels again" because society is changing, advertising has changed, people's priorities change, and hell that's not even getting into how anti-social the culture has gotten due to the rise of social media and the dissolution of local community interaction, no MMO is going to be as big as "the old days" anymore we just have to accept it and make the best of what we have.

I'll end by saying, if you, whoever is reading this reply, feel the game is dead, just go talk to some people and make friends quit being akward about it, theres nothing better than a good firm handshake as ye olde Boomer would say, be the change you want to see or that change will never come.

  • Rework Respite

    Bloonk wrote: »
these days, endgame players have 3k hp or more, so channeling respite for 5 seconds to heal 75 hp is completely out of the question!

3266 HP at 167/12 ninja talent age 12 giant no buffs or gear on, missing a few points from unfinished grandmasters but skills all maxed so 3k~ I'd say is solid estimate. That being said, I've never used respite aside from ranking. I can honestly say the same thing about Life Drain in my giant's case due to the Professor J patch nerfing it by adding a needlessly long cooldown, R1 is suppose to drain 450 HP but never quite seems to go over 300~ now, although back in the day respite was new Life Drain was always the superior alternative until we got cloud pets which objectively deprecated both and the heal+party heal skills.

I would say not just respite but all healing skills need reworked aside from rest and inspiration, they're the only ones that reasonably do their jobs. Infact just make Respite an hp+sp version of inspiration and restore 50/75% respectively, it'd be a usable skill then.

now you could argue that the chance to recover poison at least gives it niche usability, but you get the same effect from just summoning a Tuan or a pegasus. you could also argue that Free 2 play players don't have access to Tuan or Pegasus, but you get a free battle pegasus from completing saga iria.

Even the poison recover is hardly a justification for the skill being so useless as a heal because Antidote Potions exist, and it only applies after the poison has had several ticks at your health, which it doesn't recover.

Honestly, fighter in general needs some updates.. and I'm not saying to add more OP knuckles, that's just a band-aid at this point.
I mean fix the glitches that have been around for many years now, maybe add a few more skills (besides combo, I'm sick of being a sitting duck during skill cooldown), as well as fix Respite to help us out more nowadays..
It would be nice to see another tree or two of 3 stage combos added for sure, especially with so many monsters being immune to pummel, the strongest multiplier skill at fighter's disposal. Admittedly though, if you're a giant the extra cooldown reduction from combo mastery already lets you chain all 6 skills infinitely, so long as you can actually use pummel on something, although that's a bit less the case if you're using knuckle ego with 1.5x stage 2/3 speed, but erg also patches up the problem with another additive 50% cooldown reduction.

That's Devcat's way though, they've been refusing to touch skills due to player outrage in the past over dynamic combat and instead just make bandage "rebalances" via new upgrade systems and weapon tiers (special upgrades, pierce on 2h sword and bow, easier set effect access with points on weapons, erg, Revenant/Perseus special set effects, new egos) which people oddly seem inclined to dismiss as "power creep" instead of recognizing that balance is now walled behind upgrade systems instead of patch updates then wonder why new content is "too hard".

I expect thats how they'll address Respite too, if they bother at all, an upgrade or enchant that just adds to it's healing rate, which will in turn also become outdated as player characters continue to gain stats as more skills are added, recreating the problem instead of simply fixing the base skill in the first place.

All that being said though, I'm pretty happy with my ego Revenant knuckles, piled up with my reforges (charging cdr 3, combo 9, somersault 16+dropkick 18 on the same shoe) they've been pretty effective already even at only erg 30 without any cooldown reduction, if the cd reset rng is bad I'm just going to smash with my borealis or chain impale a few times depending on what's equipped since I'm not locked into the knuckles only or anything.

I was one who only had to use maybe four or so Nao-stones
You can't use Nao stones in the real version of Phantasm.
    Habimaru wrote: »
even if it takes all day.
Any Elf can solo Phantasm in an hour or so with hydra and hide+play dead, especially now that hydra gets boosted by max enchants and thus overture ontop of all the free damage from ego cylinders and not as free but quite sizable damage from erg upgrades.

I'd wager any 7~12k Giant depending on ap events they had access to with level 10 dampen shock and blunting field can complete Phantasm literally for free too since everything will do 1 damage and you can just Windguard and bash spam to kill everything while ignoring all the mechanics. Windguard p2w would speed it up but you can just wait out being knockback spammed into a wall since everything's doing 1s between wg cd.

Speaking of strategy, Illusion Balor should of been a solo boss instead of his annoying Salamanders (Which keeps on spawning...) causing you to focus less on Balor and more on them. I mean this boss would of been fun if its just HIM and not the annoying Salamanders that destroys the fun in guise of "challenge" but just becomes straight up obnoxious.
The Salamanders are part of the strategy though, you let them hit you for 1 dmg to make final strike hit speed cap sooner or if you're playing a human they just die as fodder kills to fh splash after you upgrade your sword like kraken jrs in abyssal lord.

Tech Geata with it's pew pews is actually fun because your attention is only on it while trying to avoid them pew pews because Mabinogi combat can not catch up with this nonsense unless maybe we getting some battle overhaul to match its gameplay rhythm in the future which I strongly doubt.
Defensive play, Evasion in particular could use a revamp for sure. In the meantime Anchor Rush is a good option for evading the lasers.

  • Merge Alexina!

    Greta wrote: »
    Ok boomer.

1992 doesn't fall between 1946 and 1964, but I understand your personal and deep rooted desperation to attempt to insult me for daring to mock your precious spam threads that pile up and push down the good threads like the lifeskill update suggestion thread. Since these threads are all legitimately the same thing over and over 1:1 with no nuance they should be merged. The "Merge Alexina Mega Thread the Movie in Space 2000 in 3D" thread could be a sticky for all I care, as long as it's not 6,000,000 "merge Alexina" threads pushing literally every other thread 3,000,000 pages deep.

These threads are literally just spam at this point because everyone here knows full well the problems with the game and that Nexon isnt going to merge Alexina until they can at least get it half functional, and they're stuck waiting on Devcat in Korea to actually code everything for them to even attempt it, perpetually nagging the NA team does nothing to "merge Alexina sooner" you, I, and everyone else know this.

Personally I can't wait for every Alexinaposter who memed the merge into happening in the first place to get a +Alexina on their IGN and all of their pet's IGNs, to be forced to disband their families, divorce and lose their marriage dates, be forced out of their guilds and lose their join dates, and to have to suffer the destroyed economy that they created for every other player by causing an even more massive scarcity of materials while multiplying the number of people buying chinese gold and inflating basic materials to hundreds of times what they're worth, and still not be able to find parties for what they want to run because the playerbase is too antisocial to play outside of it's small friend groups.

So I say merge the merge threads so the good ideas can actually have a little more chance to be seen between all the "nerf everything" threads, and merge Alexina so they can suffer with the rest of us since it was mostly them asking anyway. Neither will happen any time soon though.
