  • Why are people killing the market on purpose?

i think recently ppl been selling to high. around the 10-20mil range for everything.
i think the price reduce in a days gacha is crazy too...

Sometimes you really can't tell what people are going to pay for an item. While the dress-of-the-day usually fetches some kind of high price for the sake of rarity alone, just because an item is "rare" doesn't mean people will want it.

  • Bots: Out of Control

My only concern is that I better not get banned for buying reforges from Bots if they have a better deal than a player...

That may be something you have to worry about in the future. In Korea people started getting banned for buying goods stolen from players that were liquidated at crazy low prices. Who is to say Nexon wouldn't start doing the same for these reforges if they couldn't stop the bots by other means?

I agree with the sentiment that the only thing we can/should do for now is not willingly or knowingly buy from these bots (and I will call them bots because their actions seem automated). Unfortunately for most of us this means fronting our own cash for reforging, which likely means waiting for reforging events when the upgrade rates are actually somewhat reasonable, which is what I do. IT IS NOT CONVENIENT! But that's life. If you want the money launderers to go away, stop buying from them and they will find something else to do. That is that.

The only thing that really worries me is whether or not they can sell on the auction house. And if that's the case? I see only one possible answer to all this, and "free" players aren't going to like it.

That won't work, because there are probably lvl 5k bots out there redistributing to lvl 30 bots to sell

Reforges can only be traded once. And if it were a level 5k bot doing the money laundering, they'd be banned faster than their bot minions. I think we can be sure the money laundering takes place at the bot level, then is transferred back to whoever the "kingpin bot" is. And worse yet, the "kingpin bot" may be as much a throwaway character as the sales and spam bots.

The problem with the level limit is that it was blown away by Blaanid. It's entirely cake to reach a few thousand levels now.

It's probably some guy using credit card skimmers at gas stations to steal credit card numbers. Whether or not he plays the game for his own enjoyment is moot.

  • Dead Bees: A Plunge into Mabinogi's black market.

    Unlikely:

    1. A lot of the dead bees are up for 100m, or sometimes even a billion. The limit to the amount of money you can bank is determined by how many non-pet player characters you have. It is extremely, excessively inefficient to meet the requirements to bank all that gold. Each extra character slot (with a miniscule number of exceptions) costs real money, and each character is worth 20m in space IIRC. Bot characters used for illegal purposes are usually throw-away on throw-away accounts, and usually only transfer a couple mil at a time before they're caught and banned. A bot transferring money would not be able to hold, send, or accept a hundred million gold at once.

    2. The "dead bees as currency" thing is a very old mabi meme. There's also the old gag of mailing or giving dead bees to a new-ish player and the complete randomness of the action makes them think someone is trying to hack them in more paranoid times.

    3. If Korea is any indicator they're starting to put failsafes in Mabi to monitor suspicious transactions, such as an account being looted and all items being sold excessively fast, or excessive amounts of money being transferred for an item that isn't worth the gold. So if anybody actually buys one of these 20m dead bees, it probably alerts a GM. (It's worth noting that we get the same client version as Korea, we just don't have all the content implemented until it is ready, which has resulted in glitches in the past.)

    4. The biggest issue is this: Auction house is completely anonymous. There's no way of telling how to buy the "right" dead bee, unless the price itself is some kind of code, and you know most people putting dead bees up for crazy prices are doing it for the lulz. There's only one dead bee that's put up for a unique number on Alexina, and that's well over the 20m per character limit.

The issue with mabi's bots stateside isn't stolen gold or items, but stolen (skimmed) credit card numbers being used to buy NX, which are then used to sell reforges or other items more cheaply than they are worth. The bot characters are made quickly and thrown away as they are quickly banned. They don't exist long enough to be making or transferring 20m. That is why they placed the total level limit on reforges.

It's also worth noting that the new server rules in Korea can punish PLAYERS for buying items that are suspected to be stolen or involved in money laundering. So all those cheap belvast reforges of old that people would shamelessly buy because "nobody really knew"? (And let's be honest, we ALL knew something was stinky when it persisted as long as it did.) If Korea's rules come here, you could end up banned or have certain activities limited for buying them.

  • Autumn Camping Box

The homestead camp-kits are huge, and only take up one square on the board. They can be overlapped in very interesting ways!

  • PSA: Don't be a moron like me

Couldn't figure out how to put the Wisteria house down, so I destroyed my house.

Obviously, since I'm posting here, that did not work. Please don't do what I did. Thank you.
