I can't imagine pressing a button repeatedly to select a target and hope I don't skip it, like using Tab right now. This game requires you to click for it to be remotely viable during the fast-paced combat, since most skills don't execute unless a target is selected, to the contrary of FFXIV. Also, Mabi isn't visually appealing, so no way that it'll make it onto the console market. Finally, I can't imagine the Pleione engine being adapted to consoles when even the devs aren't sure how it works (magic, maybe? or the tears of people playing as alchemists?).

This only affects mini-pets. My Brown Explorer Cat is the same way. As per the updated Server Merge Scheduled Maintenance on the Webpage:

Some Mini Pets (Shark Robe Seal) may not show up correctly on the Character Selection Menu, as well as the Pet Information Menu. As these pets do not have an inventory, no items are lost. No support ticket is needed for this issue, and this will be investigated further. Updates will be provided regarding this issue as soon as possible.

Since the hotkeys got reset with the server merge, if you were on one of the affected servers, they should appear on either side of the screen, but blank. Take a skill from the Skill window and drag it around the left and right sides of your screen. This should make their squares visible. If this does not work, you can select Reset Window Position to make them come back to the edges of your current resolution.

Say the magic words: "Escalate me to a manager". This is often the only way for the basic Support grunts to be able to get rid of the ticket, and "managers" (let's not kid ourselves; they're just glorified Support Agents who can bend the rules) will be able to look into this further with you. Be warned, though, that being escalated often means longer wait times before being replied to (3-10 days instead of 1-4).
