This ONLY affects my main character actually. When I access it from an alt it works fine. For the exact thing that's happening when I open the cash shop inventory and hit the "Shop" button it opens the mini browser and I get the 403 error from that. This only happens when I access it from my main character. When I switch to another character I can open it just fine.
It's most likely a limitation of the game engine itself. Remember, given the amount of problems we're seeing, a server merge was never envisioned, and the data was not designed to be merged like this. If I had to explain it, the game probably requires a fixed user name as reference for some of its code so if it detects a collision, its not designed to handle it by renaming. From my understanding it seems like even the name change isn't a real time service, its a request, as in they have to turn the servers off to change the name in the database (with massive limitations) at set intervals (server maint).
I was actually fine with the merge not happening. Much rather have them implement server transfers instead so that people that didn't want to deal with the hassle of the merge (I'm still finding things broken on my main and alts) could still move to populated servers instead.
I miss the days of being able to BUY a pet I wanted. I thought the limited time sales were a bit shady but it was okay, the cool pets were a nice addition regardless. I guess the corporate greedy love of loot boxes is here to stay.
