2016 for me was The Year of the Huge Lucky Finish:
It was also the year my elf finally took the Peaca Int plunge, along with her guild. But what was supposed to be a fast, breezy Peaca run got into trouble almost immediately as players began to drop from the game left and right. In the end it was just my elf and another guildie, and it took them all night, and a hundred deaths, to reach the Boss Room. But in the end, after another hundred deaths, they came out victorious.
By the end of the year we got the Holiday Math Dungeon Event. As my inventory clearly shows, I neither enjoyed this event nor did I play the crap out of it.
2017
The Year of the Neverending Events saw me scramble to do as many events as possible with as many of my toons as I could, in order to acquire the brand-new stuff and the stuff I had failed to acquire in years past. It was hectic, to say the least. And annoying when the Stamp Sprint event glitched on me and failed me on Week One despite succeeding on all days that week:
The Paper Lantern event always attracts a large crowd, even in these days of extremely low player population. I got most of the swag, the female yukata being the only item that eluded me.
The October Meet-and-Greet with the DMs was pleasantly quirky, as usual.
Here we have two friends of mine gleefully taking advantage of a glitched spot in Bangor:
A weird monstrosity created by the insane competitiveness seen in the summer CTW event:
She's on my horse, and I'm on hers. We still don't get how that whole "pet train" thing works:
Critters from other regions appearing by the XO Quiz zone in Physis. People tell me it happens all the time, but I've been to all of the Quizzes since the very first one, and this is the first time I've seen critters there!
When people discovered the weird interactions between chairs/podiums/barrels/what-have-you's, it was time to get silly and reach for the sky:
Red Bandits Event Fun Fact: they don't actually spawn in random locations, but in a predetermined pattern:
And I think that's all I care to show. Hard to believe it's been ten years, but the calendar don't lie. It's been an amazing, amusing, fun, frantic, frustrating time, and I wouldn't change it for the world. Other games have come and gone, I've dipped my toes into other MMO waters, but there's nothing quite like Erinn out there, and I for one don't plan to get off this bus until we've reached the end of the road, which is hopefully still very, very, very far away.
2018 seems promising, even if the unrelenting barrage of events has no end in sight. What do I want from this year in Erinn? Resolution to the Divine Knights storyline, tons of good times, the Jump to the Moon event back, and maybe, juuuuuust maybe, DM powers to abuse and bring ruin to my enemies. Is that too much to ask?
2013
The first rule of 2013 is we do not talk about 2013. The second rule of 2013 is we do not talk about 2013. However, since I want to put screenies from every year, here are one from the feed-the-mushroom event, and one with a ground-level glitch around Dunbarton.
2014
2014 was a less active year for me, due to RL issues. I did manage to do the original Doki Doki Island event, because flight is simply too good a skill to pass up. Not to mention I've been dying to visit ever since we had heard of Nekojima back in Korea. Allegedly, you could glitch your way into the island prior to its rebranding, and bring back some goodies from there, but apart from people boasting about it I never saw any proof.
I also like that the boom boxes were permanent and can be used anywhere. From time to time I break mine out and groove to the rythm.
2015
In late 2014, my PC died and took most of the data in my HDD. I managed to Frankestein another one from spare parts I had lying around, but it was barely able to play Mabi. Still, when Mabiland made its debut I couldn't resist and could be found stuffing my face or playing the hammers, even though half the time Mabi would crash.
That year I saw what I think is the last instance, at least in Mari, of people running around killing the NPCs. It was a very annoying day.
I was able to buy a decent PC late in the year, and with that I caught up with all the content I had been unable to play, particularly Saga II, only to get stuck at that "puzzle won't appear" bug that had a lot of people stalled, and there I stayed until Nexon finally fixed it.
2010
In February we got that event that gave out Succubus dresses, way before they were available and everybody wanted one.
Then we got one of my favorite events, the 2nd Anniversary one, where you could team up to seesaw your way to the moon and meet the girl living there and all those gigantic moon bunnies. Plus, that cow robe. It was a cooky event and seesawing required careful timing; it was awesome.
I'll just add this screenie here because I look how it came out; it's the closest to a good photograph I've managed here in Mabi.
2010 introduced the pet bears that would grow when fed magic bean tofu, and a new fad was born. This is one of the largest I ever saw:
2011
In 2011 my guild won Abb Neagh Castle; I don't remember how much we bid. The actual building was fun but at the end we still agreed never to do it again.
Homesteads had been in the game for a while, and mine was starting to take its final shape. If you ever manage to visit, you'll find it largely as it looks below, though it has had a lot of stuff added to it since.
That year we got the Puzzlemaster Event, which I found OK, and wish they'd bring it back. This particular puzzle was based on a game called Mastermind, IIRC.
We also got the balloon event in Iria. It was awesome and pretty and awesome and awesome.
I've never had a full-bore gaming PC, so Iria would often glitch for me like so:
After Puzzlemaster, we got the Shoot The Sun event, in which I liked to troll people by freezing the titular critter with the Falcon's Magic Missile, which rendered it invulnerable while in that state. This was in the old version of Iria, when the Sun Mark was atop a meseta and not in a valley.
There was some kind of edible reward for that event (or maybe it was the concurrent Zombie Attack event), can't remember what it was, but eating it resulted in something like this:
