  • The Glorious Past of The Old Mabinogi Community!

On behalf of the metaphorical conglomeration of milletians that you have aided in your journey I thank you!

The way that you describe old mabi is like a large "ocean" of connected players and while it may be true that the quality and types of people playing today are different than they were years ago, I would say that "ponds" have been formed to replace the previous ocean. These ponds are the guilds that remain active and positive in recruiting and providing assistance to new and old players alike (because this game cannot be beaten). And I think that the sense of community that you remember lives on in successor form. I think the altruism system was a small attempt to revive the legendary social aspect of this game but I'm not one of the pessimists who would say that this game is "dead". I find my happiness like I find dust in my house: in minuscule quantities and tiny victories. But you get to the point where you have to empty that vacuum or that dustpan and you can look back and at the little things that you've accomplished that are now bigger than yourself. I have a fondness for this game and its community and I will keep trying to find happiness in it for as long as I can. And I wish the best of the luck and the smallest of victories to you all. Nostalgia isn't a bad thing, but it's how much we've changed that makes nostalgia possible.
