Gender lock

We all see those people who look like a different gender with the outfits they use. But I still feel it's a bit too limited with exactly how much they can experiment with.
We all know mabinogi is meant to be live your fantasy and so there shouldn't be a limit to what type of clothes you can wear. Like imagine a girl trying to buy male jeans but they aren't allowed because they are a girl or a guy trying to wear a dress because on the label it says girls only. It's just clothes right?
Now I'm not asking to give one gender the same stances with weapons as the other, or even the same voice or even sitting pose. But it would make sense if we could dress similar.

They're just gonna keep making gender-restricted items so that they can put the Eluned versions in gacha and sell them for a lot of money >>

Unfortunately, it seems to work as a business model. Not gonna lie, I'm still waiting for that vamp gacha...

What's next, a human wearing elf-only clothes? Letting old people wear a young person's clothes?? No thank you.

*Cough cough* Beginner Skirt-- *Cough cough*

But no, i support this- i wish there wasnt a gender lock or a race lock on the cloths.. Its kind of annoying special when you get that rare outfit from a gachupon but its for the other gender :'(
If the gender lock was off- i would be able to wear so much stuff since i have half male and female clothing lol.. as for the race part though as i said, Its very annoying when your a giant and you cant weird half the things anyone else could.. ;_; Giantist much Nexon...

I thought this was gonna be about how when we switch gender, we don't save how we looked like on our previous gender if we switch back to it. :c

(Actually, after a while of thinking, I'd like more unisex hairstyles even more.)

I agree with Hardmuscle about the time and effort required to create models for the opposite body type. I do wonder, however, why things like Tara Infantry helmets, which already have a version for every race and sex, can't be turned into a single "Tara Infantry Helmet" that is universal.

Because the 2D Models (what you see in your inventory) are not the same as the 3D Models (what you see on the characters). Even if there was a Universal 2D Model (for your inventory to hold), there would still have to be different 3D models to fit each character who wears them. -- I hope that makes sense. /facepalm

Yes, the 3D models may be different, but what I meant is that those different 3D models already exist (no extra modelling work), so why not merge all the 3D models under one universal item? If a female human wears it, use one 3D model. If a male giant wears it, use another 3D model. etc. I'm wondering why they decided to divide the equipment by race and sex just to have more items.

: o some of the outfits in the game need revamping anyways.. plus there is one outfit that isnt gender locked at all and it looks fine.. it would be a nice update to the game over all, gives them a good chance to revamp the old stuff.

Revamps cost money. Nexon probably figures its not worth their time updating old content because no one will use it in comparison to they're "higher" quality gachapon items.
I doubt they would event take the models/textures if you made them yourself lol (just random thought)

this. it's all about the least amount of effort for the most amount of revenue.

True as that may be, I can't say there's anything wrong with that logic. ~ Have you ever tried to make a game like this?

If yes, you understand already where I'm coming from. -- If no (and you're interested), here's a fantastic place to start...

The above project started in November of 2014 and is still going. If you follow or bookmark his channel (or his Twitter: https://twitter.com/handmade_hero), you can watch all 430+ videos in a row. Lots of fun learning here.

I do understand it, but there doing the same amount of work for a new outfit then a old. The only reason i could see it being more effort then what its worth is because its already in game so they would have to change it, but other then that, a revamp of a outfit would be the same as getting a new outfit- Just they arent making money for it.- Though the hair styles if they did it with those they would make some money threw pons. i understand it wouldnt happy and its to much effort then what its worth, i honestly dont see mabi lasting that much longer if they keep throwing gachupons at people, in and out of game. Its just a personal thought on what i think would be nice to have, thats all.

    How patronizing.

Short-term profit (or even long-term profit) is not always in the best interest of the vendor or the customer. If Nexon keeps trying to make a quick buck with events and cosmetic changes, while neglecting the core game mechanics/interface/engine/content, then eventually the Mabi userbase will evaporate, the game will be closed down, and the shareholders will lose a revenue stream. Runescape managed to evolve and stay relevant, even popular, by updating their game engine and content.

Even a revenue stream that seems to be sustainable, may only be preying upon the addiction or impulses of the customer/victim. The drug business is an example, and predatory micro-transaction games from studios like Zynga are other examples. The hired developers might even be abused, then replaced, in the quest for better profits. The dev notes from the chain event show how they were crying and being kept from their families. If profits come first, then this game turns into a machine of pain running on the tears of the addicted, bamboozled playerbase and the enslaved developers.
