A group of master chefs have come to Erinn seeking skilled cooks and culinarians to challenge in an epic battle of speed and skill. Do you have what it takes to win in the Food Wars?

There is much more to cooking than simply tossing together a few ingredients in the correct amount or following a recipe. Sometimes cooking requires creativity, intuition, and imagination. A skilled chef can cook a wide variety of meals using different ingredients but still ending up with the wanted result. Be prepared for a whole new way of cooking because everything you once knew is about to change...

Introducing... a cooking update suggestion involving the characters from the anime Food Wars!

First and foremost, the way we currently cook is very dated and in need of a good overhaul. I will briefly summarize my suggestion into key points as well as a few changes to cooking skills I feel would be better suited to this new change.

- Ingredients

There are sooo many ingredients in the game and I feel like they are not utilized enough because they can only be used for certain recipes. With this update, meals will be more generalized as to the ingredients that can be used to make them. Meat dishes can be used with more than a single type of meat, vegetable dishes can be used with more than one type of vegetable, etc. But what would the point be if you can just make any old food using any type of ingredient?

- Texture & Flavor

Ingredients now have a texture and flavor that will be added to the dish being made. Depending on the types of ingredients added and how much flavor or texture is added to the dish will determine the buffs given by the completed food. This way each dish made can have some sort of uniqueness in the buffs given determined by what ingredients are used or added during the cooking process.

- Recipes

Even though the freedom of being able to use more ingredients should open up a wider variety of dishes being made, a certain recipe will always have a main ingredient to branch out from. Say you want to cook a steak, a primarily meat dish. You will start off with a meat ingredient i.e. beef, chicken, fish, etc. That's it. That's the dish right there. From there you will add your other ingredients to add flavor and texture to the food.

- Tasting

This skill will be revamped with the overhaul to better suit the change. Tasting will now allow you to determine what buffs will be added to the finished food as you choose your ingredients before you begin cooking. The shakiness while adding ingredients will be removed because there will be a new cooking minigame!

- Cooking

As you get better in cooking you learn to cook in new and interesting ways, and you become more confident in using ingredients. Cooking now also determines how many ingredients can be added to a dish as well as how accurate and skillful you are with a cooking method. Depending on the type of cooking you are doing will determine the type of minigame you will play.

Food cooked in a cooking pot will open a stirring minigame. You must stir your food but be careful not to go too fast! You could spill out some of the food resulting in a failure or poor quality dish. Food cooked on a cutting board will open a cutting minigame where you must cut or chop your dish in a way perhaps borrowing from the smithing minigame.

Baking and deep frying should be done with a frying pan rather than a cooking pot. That always stuck me as strange. Plus a frying pan would be fun to hit stuff with, but getting off topic here...

Now you are probably wondering how will you add ingredients as you are playing the minigame? You will choose your main ingredient that you will cook the dish with, as well as add secondary ingredients for added texture or flavor which will be used passively as you play the minigame. Your skill in cooking will determine how many ingredients can be added per dish. A rank F will only be able to use the main ingredient as they learn their craft, eventually being able to add more as they develop.

Wow! This sure is a lot to take in. With all these changes it can be confusing to get started, but not to worry! Your friends will be there to help you along the way and test your skills in a Food War to see how much you have learned!

If you're ready lets get started...!
