In jousting each player race gets a unique jousting combo. Although the bonus damage inflicted is identical for all the different combos, the combos themselves are different and so the various races are not equal on the jousting pitch. I've done a complete analysis of the entire game tree of the jousting mini-game

(see the written description of this video)

and it shows what has long been realized empirically by long-time jousting veterans: that Humans are the hardest to beat and Giants are the hardest to win with; Elves are in between. As a result, the jousting mini-game finals, on both servers, are overwhelmingly dominated by Human characters with both the final match almost always having at least one human in it and the complete finals registry almost always being entirely filled with Human characters. Giants are rarely seen because their combo is so significantly inferior to the Human one that they quit the mini-game, in short order, in frustration; most not knowing that their racial combo, vis-a-vis the other racial combos but in particular the Human one, is a handicap which is making victory especially rare for them and instead they assume that it can only be because they are no good at the mini-game. The Elven situation is not as frustrating as their handicap is not as severe but it is still is an extant situation. This coupled with the fact that they cannot wield a lance keeps the number of participating Elves down as well. Of course, in any one game anyone can win, and when the jousting community consisted entirely of inexperienced players then this situation is not apparent. I have worked hard to create and maintain a community of experienced veteran jousters, on both servers, and this has made the problem bare. This is a realization reached by both observation and recording of, literally, thousands of matches, and also mathematical analysis conducted by computer.

I suspect combos were implemented for two reasons:

(1) In the G10 'Goddess of Light' quest 'Pencast's Call' you face Mata in the jousting arena in the Shadow Realm version of Tara. Since Mata has no special combo themself, this gives the player an advantage over them,

(2) Having different combos adds variety and an extra dimension to matches.

These are good reasons to implement combos, but, since they are problematic, an adjustment needs to be made. The adjustment should be one that makes it fair for everyone and yet maintains combos in the game. What I propose is that rather than combos being racially based that they be personally based. When a character first visits Lileas, either after initial character creation or after rebirth, it should trigger a dialogue where Lileas asks them to choose a personal combo. This would have several benefits:

(1) By resetting after rebirth, it allows players to experiment and try out other combos,

(2) It rewards or punishes a player's choice directly for which combo they choose rather than by which race they choose,

(3) It allows players correct their problem if they chose poorly the previous time,

(4) It would allow even more combo's to be created for consideration by the player,

(5) It would eliminate the need to design additional combos should additional player races be added to the game.

Please replace player race based jousting combos with personally chosen ones, as outlined above.
