On seasonal events - or at least more lenient ones

This post is just in case something like this hasn't been considered, as opposed to discarded, which I think more probable.

Why are all events aimed at being an exercise in frustration? Yeah, ok, I guess it's fun, or rather 'fun', to 'race to the finish', and stress to the extreme to try to get some of these *actual fun* rewards, but why are *ALL* events this way? And I'm not even referring to the 'make-two-mistakes-lose-the-big-prize' mechanic, but to the fact that no event extends for even 1 week after the deadline to the prizes. Everything that's not a permanent -and often not that great as of late- update is a short lived flavor of the month. But what about something that could be done in your free time for an extended, but not unlimited period? Not like that garbage commerce idea, which, in concept, is not bad, but in practice, you need to do the equivalent of leveling up *A LOT* before you can participate and then repeat each season...'fun'...but if it is that fun, maybe these monthly events should have restrictions and pre-requisites too...oh, hey, they sometimes do, so I guess I'm not grateful enough that is not abused furthermore ...also, not the mark-your-card-and-dont-forget-to-visit-the-souvenir-cash-shop-on-your-way-out events like the school attendance ones. I'm referring to something you can do casually and still get the big prize. So, for example, instead of doing a 'get a sheep event while doing some easy and fun battling' (one of my favorite events so far) 2 months ago, a 'kind of deliver a coffee in exchange for a specific shop' event one month ago (a sub portion of the actual event, but I think the idea is easy to understand) and a 'fish for a specific item, get special coins for a different specific shop' (not being cynical, different currencies, different shops, there's fun to be had in it without the need for pressure) for the upcoming month, why not get all these events running for, like, 3 months. And not need 3 weeks to complete each, either, or are you too scared that the events are not fun enough to keep the audience hooked? Well, I can tell you that the events are fun and (in the case of the sheep one) I continued to battle after getting the sheep -and not for bragging rights on the size of the sheep, as I unfortunately got to read from someone whose hidden intention was clearly that- nor for preventing other players from getting their requirements filled -as you could witness more often than not in the event area from gluttons not needing as many kills or that seem to not have noticed that everybody hitting the mobs got a prize, but whom, in reality, just didn't want others to get the rewards. I just kept fighting because the battles had the potential to be entertaining and sometimes delivered on that promise. But, without changing the subject, I think the events have the potential to be fun and entertaining just by their core idea.

Now, there are other factors in place too, I guess, like -and I may be reading too much into it, but I don't think it's too farfetched of a theory- having to continuously and without skipping a day feed a little tiny sheep is not that far from having to continuously and without skipping a day feeding a baby, which you may take as a blessing (I did!...for a few days) or as an 'how far from 500cm are we again?' (which I also did, but not every day). Still, and not including the fact that I'm tired of having to become pregnant by a race of power abusers that impunitively desecrate the game from the inside, as well as the outside, I think it is a good, cautionary tale on the burdens and occasional joy of parenting. I'm just glad my sheep doesn't require daily feeding.

And I suppose lessons like those could be lost if a change in format on events is done, but I'm not saying *all* events should be that way. Some could be short term, some could be long term. And though I suppose following Gwen around shows that doing something in very far places apart is potentially troublesome, I don't think the alternative, of bothersomely centralizing anything is a better alternative. But I think you don't cater for the 'my adventure is going to take me to many places and I'm glad there are ongoing events happening in those places right now!', and instead you solely cater for the 'i finished all these dumb monthly events in a week and now I'm booooored omg!!! What do you mean these casuals are going to take MY same prizes for taking 6 months doing what I so wonderfully did in a week?? Wahh-wahh', you know, the kind of users that don't grab a fishing pole unless they get a prize that they can brag about, that don't grab a cooking tool unless they can advertise whatever crap they probably felt forced to do to have - first and foremost - their name shown on flying text upon everybody's screen or the ones that wouldn't light a matchstick if it didn't mean having their diarreal idea of a namertag incessantly flash everywhere too, you know, *those* users. But, who are we talking to? Chances are *you* are probably one such user. Am *I* one of those users? Gee, I don't know, last time I grabbed a fishing pole was to get prizes, but then again, since it's always jumping from one event to the next if I even want to get access to things that are, for the most part reasonably unobtainable in any other way, then I really haven't had much time to ponder what I would do with free time, but something I can say is that I doubt I have uttered the words 'bored' regarding my activities in mabinogi. I don't think there's a shortage of things to do and there have been a considerable amount of additions since g20 that help make the game more visually appealing and keep restraining me from trying that mentioned alternative...Nevertheless, for all those bigorexian weight-lifter gym fans out there, fear not! For with a 'what do you mean there are going to be changes to the races? Well, in that case, ours *must* have bigger and better improvements than the others wahh wahh I don't care if we had a sole update for ourselves recently!! I want exclusive upgrades that the other races don't receive wahh wahh' type of administration running this game, chances are nothing will change for the better, and, instead, more borderline idiotic 'improvements' will be made so that you can show-off something in front of your so-called friends...until the next thing, which, if someone beats you to it, will fill you with the bicker you deserve, just like in that American psycho scene.

Like, really? Is it a consensus amongst your administration? I like to think *some* there ought to be not-that-bad...or is this offspring of product just luckily actually good sometimes or with the potential to be at other times by sheer luck? Well, if a good tree can give rotten fruit, maybe the other way around can happen too.

We're now looking at a fishing event that instead of being 'im going on a dream vacation fishing trip for a few days and -oh! What is this! I got a star cushion? But I just arrived yesterday!' and is instead a 'i need to fish or my family will starve to death - even if that starvation is of the spirit by means of not having the only thing closest to a two handed weapon that looks pretty I can get'...an important lesson in life - OUR lives - not the ones whose fantasy lives we're commended to play. I don't care that the sequel figures can have stat upgrades (unique characteristics are fun to play around, though), I care that they are the closest to citizens I can get for my homestead since there's a punitive action for anybody trying to multiaccount who's not rich enough to buy a cluster of personal computers (that's still legal, right? Because I remember reading some *wahh wahh'* about envious imbeciles complaining that some multiaccounters were getting more things than them...I suppose they never use the auction house to buy anything these multiaccounters advertise and obtain through their poaching - which is, like, WAAAY different from singleaccounters poaching, because not enough keys wahh wahh- and I recall someone saying 'oh, yes, I think they're going to make multiaccounting from different computers illegal too!' which wouldn't surprise me if it was done from someone on the administration, and which would surprise me even less if it is implemented because of that particular thread). Nonetheless, I don't think I need 1 million letters sent to your headquarters or 1 million followers to avail this post here to know what's right, to feel what you're doing is wrong, or to denounce it publicly to the best of my abilities, despite knowing from experience the futility of it. Moreover, I know how retaliatory action is applied by the imbecilistic *wahh wahh'*s, so, I expect not only to never see any of these ideas implemented, not only THE OPPOSITE of these ideas being done in a record time and not only this post being banned or being ridicule, but I can guarantee the highest form of power-abuse display from whoever executes can think of when done.

Nowadays, I am even far from expecting to enlighten someone that hasn't considered any of this - let alone someone that has! So...what's the point of all this? I guess the only thing remaining is to put all of you under the spotlight. After that, there's not a way to say '...but, I didn't know'...and...well, who knows? That may be the end of it.
