Trying to sequence commerce runs to match the boat schedule can be fun, provided we can easily ascertain the boat times. For that to work smoothly, we need the boat times to be memorable. Ideally its the game time that should be memorable rather than the real life time, otherwise we'll be confounded on those occasions when the server clock seems to get out of synch with reality.
So, the Port Cobh to Belvast boats depart every 6 minutes real time which is every 4 hours by in-game clock. Good choice! In terms of a 12 hour in-game clock I just have to remember 3 times. I can cope with that.
Port Cobh to Port Quilla boats depart every 11 minutes real time which is every 7 hours 20 minutes by the in-game clock. Yeah - I'm not going to be able to keep track of that without a spreadsheet. Could we increase that frequency to every 9 minutes real time which is every 6 hours game time?

As far as the current wait times, they have often frustrated me. I don't mind the concept of waiting on the next boat (I actually like the idea), the problem is that the wait time + boarding time + sailing time = too much time. Consider this plausible scenario:
1) Player A leaves Tir for Port Ceann en route to Vales with Lovely Potion.
2) Player A misses the boat by 1 second.
3) In that same moment, Player B loads up the same goods in Tir and heads for Ceann.
4) The delay for Player A is so long that Player B catches the same boat with time to spare.
5) Player B outpaces Player A and gets the prize at Vales. Too bad for Player A.
And it's not just that route. Going from Cor to Tara is even more chancy because of the lengthy wait times. They need to be halved. Not eliminated, but drastically reduced.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind that players can have speed advantages over one another (mount, speed potions, transport gear, etc.), but this is way too much of an advantage for the fast player who delays picking up goods. We strive to approach commerce as early bird gets the worm, but it can be that the second mouse gets the cheese. The boarding times need to be reduced for balance of competition.
Not to mention, it's incredibly boring with the (mostly reasonable) limitations placed on players while carrying goods. This is compounded due to the absurd wait times.
Maintaining travel time consistencies depending on the distance of the areas is something to keep into account, but at least making departing times more memorable could be great in my opinion.
As far as UI changes and additions, I also think that's an incredible idea. It gives more notice, and seems to be a great addition to Commerce content, especially while it continues to evolve in-game!
I'll do my best to forward these concerns!
