Feedback on Star-fishing Event 2023

Hello,

I'd like to issue some feedback on the star-fishing event that's almost over.

So, the rewards from this event are 'normal stuff' like temporary buff potions, SE potions, tradeskill stuff, enchant prot pots, etc...

There's also some bag coupons, and glittering stars to buy a new fishing pole with, and the 'unique' thing to this event are the homestead figures (and the potions that enhance them)

So the temporary buff potions... you get so many of them, and they're not stackable. They're basically not worth the inventory space, and are auto-drops for me basically. I get it, not every reward can be worthwhile. The enchant prot potions are quite nice however.

The bag coupons are for a bag that's clunky and awkwardly shaped, and generally worse than ones given out in the tutorial, so it's basically junk too.

The new fishing pole... No new mechanics on it, but it looks nice. Plus you can sell the stars for levels after you get the fishing pole.

The figurines system. There's some MAJOR problems with them.

So, you only get ONE figurine for free. The rest you need to buy. What is the process for this?

Well, you need to sell the upgrade potions one by one to Vivi.

This is six clicks per potion to sell. There is no way to sell them in bulk. This is tedious.

Six clicks each, times 15 potions... that's a total of 90 clicks to sell enough potions to get the figure. A figure can only handle 8 upgrades at most. So even if you upgrade every figure to it's max, you'll still be dumping roughly 65% of your potions in the six click per sell thing. That is REALLY tedious.

Now, the figurines count as 'sequel' figurines. The current set of 'standard ish' figurines from before this event give +10 hp/mp/stamina, +5str/dex/int/will/luck. So unless you can surpass those, they won't provide a benefit. There is no previous movespeed sequel figurine from before, so that one doesn't need to get really high.

Now, let's look at what you need to do to get above +10hp on a figurine. You need to get the figurine, and upgrade it's HP with regular HP upgrades 5 times. This is reliable and there's no chance involved. You THEN need to use three unstable potions on it. Each one needs to succeed, which is a 65% chance each. They also need to roll maximum, which is 50%. If you combine all of those percentages... it's 3.4%, or an average of 29 tries. And this will increase your HP by 1. The numbers are also the same for SP/MP.

Let's do a little math of what's required to increase HP/MP/SP by 1 point. To increase ANY of them by 1 point

Let's pretend you have an infinite number of the upgrade potions.

It's 90 clicks to get enough star powder per figurine.

90 * 29 = 2610 clicks.

Now, you need to buy the figurines... That's another 35 or so clicks if you do it in bulk.

2645 clicks so far.

You need to apply 8 potions to each figurine. It's 4 clicks per potion.

8*4*29 = 928

That's a total of 3573 clicks.

We'll be generous and assume you can get one accurate click each half second. That's nearly 30 minutes worth of straight menu navigation for a very VERY small bonus. And that's assuming there's infinite potions.

TL;DR: This event requires an IMMENSE amount of clicking to process the rewards. Some sort of 'sell all' button would help tremendously.

Yeah the user interface for this event was not very friendly and may even be considered an alt deterrent. Hopefully when and if they do this event again they will make this less carpal tunnel triggering.

I am totally not going to deal with that tomorrow and will take the necessary means to save my wrist. What that means is; go ahead and speculate whatever you want. Those that know me know what I am going to do. They made us resort to this. Too much damn clicking.

I can't add much to this as it covers everything wrong with this event. So I second it.

There's nothing I want to add but I totally agree with this. Selling event boost potions was so tiresome. Hopefully, next time around this can be implemented better.
