Source of the Letter Part 2 broken

I am unable to complete Source of the Letter part 2, as the quest's progress seems bugged

Alexina has nothing to say about the letter, and the "Exploration: Defeat 10 Big-Eared Aardvarks" quest doesn't progress no matter how many of them I hunt.

I have tried cancelling and reaccepting the quest, but it doesn't seem to track how many claws I pick up or how many I hunt.
Help?
