I genuinely love Mabinogi!
I've been playing for about three weeks now and I honestly cannot get over how extraordinary and original this game is. It's a small world but my goodness it is filled with tons of things to do! I can't believe I'm playing a game that let's you adventure or cook, become a merchant or delve into dungeons, create a beautiful Homestead or Moonlight Island, chop wood or shear sheep or all of that and much, much more! Now I've been a casual gamer for years spending much of my time and money into various games including a very popular MMORPG (I don't know if we can mention other games here) and the reason why I'm so casual is that all the games I've tried throughout the years just haven't grabbed me. Mabinogi has me firmly in it's clutches! I also really like the graphics, they're a simple anime style but very pretty and the many different ways you can style your avatar and make yourself look truly unique is fantastic. I even love how normal clothes that you can buy from a general shop such as the Popo's Skirt changes colour often so not everyone is running around looking the same. I'm an older player who suffers from several illnesses also including debilitating panic attacks, I just love the fact that I can be a totally different person in a fantasy world in which I don't just play but live too ♥ Whoever came up with this game and made it a reality deserves some serious recognition.

Welcome to Mabinogi! Glad that you're enjoying the game! It warms the team's heart when players are enjoying even the smallest things in Erinn! We can't wait to see what adventures you make as you settle in!
It can get frustrating, though, so beware. I'm currently mostly away from the game since I've hit a point where it is frustrating to continue; that can sap your desire to play and makes a lot of folks step away.
I happened to come across your post this morning, and I just wanted to say thank you for sharing it. I've seen you around Dunbarton a few times, and it was really nice to hear you playing your lute there--it brought back a lot of great memories from when I first started playing Mabi years ago. It was a lovely reminder that, even with all the changes, the heart of the game is still the same.
I hope you continue to enjoy the game and all it has to offer. ☺️

There's a couple three places. The most common recurring one is where you have to fight a battle, where you have to do it alone, so you can't get your friends to help. There's no way to win by being clever, it takes raw power alone. This is not a case of me being some newbie that wants to beat the end-game boss right away, or me being too inexperienced to know what to do. I CAN do it but it's just so tedious and frustrating that I just don't wanna go through trying it again and again any more until I get a lucky break. It quickly stopped being fun and turned into nothing more than labour. So it's like Dragon Ball Z versus American Comic books, you just have to be stronger than the monsters, no out-thinking, not even dodging will help, you HAVE to go toe-to-toe, trade blows, and not be the first to run out of healing. Battles like that are for brain-dead morons; they just don't do it for me. Don't get me wrong there are places where you CAN be clever and don't misunderstand, I'm not strictly talking about cheesing but using your skills and the battle space to your advantage; nope be strong, trade blows, knock them down first, done; yawn. But so many times it just turns into another episode of dragon ball Z; and let's face it Dragon Ball Z jumped the shark at Freeza, after that its just rinse and repeat; what are they at now Super Saiyan 57?
There's another one where, it is not difficult at all just tedious: if I want to obtain a particular skill, I have to go on actual dates with NPCs and I just can't get past my eye rolling and I really don't feel like doing it because I think it's just too beaverdam stupid.
There was another one where you had to visit this thing called the cooking dungeon about 110 times, to rank your cooking skill; it's one room and the same thing over and over and over again. Fortunately for me, there was a way to rank skills then that allowed me to skip it, it wasn't a trick, it wasn't an exploit, it wasn't a bug, it was a deliberate game mechanic that Nexon mindfully put into the game and then they nerfed it. Thank God I got what I needed out of it before they did.
Anyway this has been several inches of copy complaining about the game; I don't want to give the wrong impression. Overall, it's a good game. Someone mentioned you playing a lute; the music capabilities are fantastic. You can play your own music in the game and orchestrate it, are there ANY other games where you can do that? Well, I guess technically in Minecraft you could ... but ... um ... m'yeah.
Right now, all I do is log in to document the jousting finals and post the matches and my reviews of them on YouTube; that's what I do in Mab these days, and don't let the first three or four inches of this post fool you because I'm happy doing what I do now, but developing my character more has been on hold for years now because I have no desire AT ALL to do what I HAVE to do to move on; it feels like punishment.
