Red/Blue broken shield icons on mobs?

Hey I'm a returning player and can't recall seeing this before and can't seem to find an answer but sometimes when i get near a mob they will have a little status icon of a cracked red or blue shield(?) on them. My assumption is this indicates them as maybe a weak mob or something but couldn't confirm or deny this.

Anyone know? Please and thank you!

    If you check out the status effects 'debuffs' section, you can find a few that match what you might be looking for:

    Honestly I don't know what I expected to find but adorable wiggle was no where close what I expected.
    Thank you so much and now I'll probably keep my pet out more often in fights. Or at least look more into making pet able to survive fights
