Composing Error -- Choosing scroll adds notes
When I try to compose a song and I click the scroll I want, the act of clicking it somehow adds more notes to the scroll.

So we can see clearly where the differences are. The first one adds ">C4" inside a "d4"; that ought to fup your rhythm. I'm assuming this is where the whole thing began; you listened to your tune and it sounded messed up? The second is on the end where it appends ">>C4C4". IIRC the "count" is just number of characters, so this is adding nine characters and not three, although it is three additional notes. So the additions seem to be of the form: ">" x n + "C4" x n.
Let's look into that and examine your input data:
We can see that the input string is 344 characters. So 344=610 then 353=613; okay that's weird. At the very least, one character would correspond to one note but then add change of octave, add sustain, change volume, set default note length, non-default note length, sharps & flats, and so on, so on average, it's more than one character per note. This means that 344 at MOST is the number of notes.
IIRC the tune compiler, used to write the scroll, will remove any redundancies to minimise the number of characters need ... or maybe I'm just thinking of 3ML. Anyway, even before compiling, the reported number does not correspond to the number of characters or the number of notes. The only correlation, of sorts, that we have is that three notes are added and the number goes up by three.
I'm wondering if there are a bunch of, say, character zeroes, in your input data futzing up the compiler. I assume you have your tune saved as raw data in, say, a .txt file? How did you create the original copy? By ear and typing, from 3ML, downloaded the raw data from "some site somewhere", or some other way? BTW is it just this tune fingup or are all tunes that you attempt doing so?
Let's say it is corrupted input then try this: take you raw data and paste it into a .txt file, then select the characters you see (don't use ctrl-A) and then paste THAT into a scroll and compile it. If this is the result of garbage invisible characters, this ought to clear that.
I usually get a midi file and put it in 3ML. I do a lot of editing, using both 3ML and Microsoft word or similar word program. When I am done editing, I will copy and paste it into a txt file.
The thing is I have been doing this for many years (since I started composing) and have never had this issue, so I'm not doing something different unless maybe there is something in the game settings I accidentally changed.
That sounds like what I do too, except I skip Word and just use Notepad. Okay then, since it's happening with all your music, then it's not a particular tune's fault. Although, your input file looks okay, we need to isolate where the problem occurs. Try skipping one of the steps in your process, to test each step. The idea is to see where in the process is where things eff up. If you remove a particular step and it works, well then you've probably isolated where the problem is occurring. So steps would be: importing into 3ML, composing in 3ML, compiling in 3ML, using Word, using Notepad, writing the scroll in Mabinogi. If you can think of more steps then go to town. Oh and another thing can you remember WHEN this all began, exactly?
EDIT: Oh I just had a thought, try doing exactly what you do but write a tune that only uses two of the three fields; say Melody and ONE of the chord fields, and see what happens. I'm wondering if, with two fields, it will only add two extra notes instead of three.
I reduced the composing to the bare minimum -- I typed some notes directly into the game. I left everything blank except the melody. When I clicked the scroll, it still added the extra notes.
Try writing a simple tune, like Mary Had a Little Lamb, entirely within Mabinogi, no notepad, 3ML, or Word, and see if that pooches too.
The new way they organize the shops was my first guess.
Setting it back to the old way didn't fix it.
Did you post in the wrong thread? Because, you're reply seems kinda non-sequitur.
EDIT: Oh, wait I get it now; my bad. Anyway, let me know the results.
I thought I sent you something else, so I'm wondering if I sent that message somewhere else too.
It's a real bummer, because selling scrolls is the main way I make money in the game.
OH WAIT! Are you composing, somehow, via the Bard Bulletin Board, rather than using the Compose skill directly?
