This is getting so bad

I really liked the new farming feature so far, it's fun and enjoyable. Of course they had to find a way to ruin that too though with the captcha system they added, though. It basically punishes the player for actively farming, which is ridiculous. It should be encouraged, but it instead discourages it. I'm not sure if Nexon considered that those who suffer with lag would also be more prone to failing the captcha. And when you fail, you get logged out. If you fail too much, you get suspended for doing nothing but simply failing, which is crazy. Plus the popup can appear at inconvenient times like during a thief attack, which they clearly didn't even think about.

I get it's supposed to be in place because of bots, but at this point, these measures make the game less enjoyable/harder for actual players and can even punish those who did nothing wrong, just like how the dungeon limits or party member limits made it less enjoyable for actual players. Really, the bot farming issues never really bothered me much to begin with. These anti bot measures actually are bothering me, and others. I'm also curious if too many fails on the captcha system will eventually result to a permanent ban or not. But even if that wasn't the case, I can't imagine risking getting locked out of the game for a few days or hours because of a fail.

It's supposed to be a low chance, but it's certainly not if you're active with farming, which is ideal for me. I myself only got the popup once and didn't have an issue with it, but I also just started farming yesterday and got it fast (I first thought it was a mini game and I would get something for completing it when I encountered it), but it's the risk that's there that discourages me from using the farm feature at all. I won't bother with it anymore, and if they add captcha to other aspects of the game, I'm quitting. An idea that I saw is just adding a captcha before even getting into the game rather than integrating it into the game itself and sucking the enjoyment out of everything, but I doubt Nexon will do that.

The AI system they have with randomly banning players who did nothing wrong is also insane, meanwhile actual players who have said NSFW things openly are still running along fine. They need to start using actual humans for their tickets again rather than AI's. There were times I wanted to send a ticket but realized I most likely wouldn't receive help anyway or risk getting my account in trouble since it's just AI and I've heard of multiple instances where a player wasn't able to get help or their request to be heard out. This whole direction is bad, and they will keep losing players if they continue to not listen to them (and keep banning the ones who did nothing wrong).

I just hope we get a different Director soon enough. Some aspects and updates for Mabinogi is fun, and then there's just bad ones mixed in with all of it. I didn't even completely hate New Rise, and I'll miss some parts of it, especially since it's already been a year of having it around. I liked dungeons having shorter floors and it won't be fun going back to. It just needs to be harder, not longer, but maybe that's an unpopular opinion there.

Yeah, Nexon really didn't think this through. I was enjoying farming too, until the captcha system messed it up. So far, I've had it pop up five times ( each on different days). The first day I started farming it popped up twice, they were spaced apart the first day at least. The second day it happened twice again, but in closer proximity to each other, and today, it happened once. I was wondering what would happen if you failed, as I couldn't find anything other than a post where it said it was to stop bots from gold farming. It's aggravating that we're getting punished for just doing the quests they gave us to do. All the things they could be doing to make the game better and they do this. Also, I too, am getting sick of AI working its way into everything. Mabi has been one of my favorite games for many years, AI has no place here or anywhere else for that matter. Sadly, I don't think Nexon is going to listen to their players until there's none left. Sorry for the rant.

No need to apologize for the rant, as that's basically what my post is here as well, and plus it just makes me feel more seen.

I'm actually very angry with the choices Nexon continues to make with Mabi. I love the game so much as well and have been playing for years. Now I feel they've been ruining it and lately I don't have the energy to even play anymore. Even when I got really into it again on the beginning of this Masterplan, another thing that ruined things a bit was being unable to run most sms with 5 of my guildmates because of the terrible party limits. It makes it hard to even think about group runs, which they should focus on more as an MMO.

Yeah, that's way too consistent for the popups. It's also bad that everyone's probably likely to get it a lot on the first few days since they're literally doing the tutorial and trying out this new thing Nexon introduced to us. It's like they don't actually want us to play it. When you fail the captcha, you get logged out. A friend told me they failed a few times and couldn't get back on until like three hours? I think? And a post I found on reddit said their friend was locked out for a few days after too many fails. Essentially temporarily banned. Even though they were a human that just failed. Not sure if perma ban is on the table or not. While lag was one thing that Nexon didn't account for, this is also unfair to people who might have reading issues such as dyslexia. It's an unfair human check with fairly severe consequences as far as we know. At this point I would rather let the bots have at it.

Mhm, it feels like they just keep self-sabotaging on making the game worse and killing it faster before they can even bring out Eternity. While I have recommended this game openly to people in the past, it's reached a point where I can't in good conscious recommend it any longer.

Yes, I hate AI for a list of reasons, and it's annoying to watch people attempt to make use of something that's also bad at its job on top of how problematic it is. It's weird to watch Nexon try to move into using AI more when so much of their fanbase either openly dislike AI and/or are artists to some level.

I usually prefer to solo dungeons, especially after the update they made where you have to participate to get a reward. I get trying to get players to participate, but sometimes when there's so many people in a dungeon getting in everybody's way it can be hard. I get it, though, sometimes, depending on who you're with, running dungeons with friends can be fun and sometimes it's nice to have the extra help. I wonder why they thought the limit would be a good idea. Also, it really isn't fair to get locked out of your account for failing the captcha. Humans can fail at things too. Like you said, some people may have reading issues. Also, there are people who panic at time limits (I know I do, no matter how much time there is) and panic typing can cause typos. This might also cause them to panic and hit enter without seeing if it's correct and only realize it after they already hit enter. It really is like they're trying to sabotage the game. That saddens me. Mabi has felt like home for a long time, I'd really hate to see it crash and burn.

That's fair. Due to circumstance I mainly solo everything and it's just what I'm used to. But I miss big parties and running with multiple people, so I'm desperate enough to go through the extra effort just to play and have fun with friends when given a chance. Everything Nexon did, including the participation reward is a big demotivater though. I remember when nice older players liked carrying people when I first got into Mabi, now the game punishes those who are carried. Nexon clearly stopped understanding their playerbase and the true nature of the game years ago. The limit was also due to bots I think, but it's just another thing that tore the fun out of the game. Same with the participation thing I guess, I don't know if it was worth it. Pretty sure a lot of the playerbase miss when Mabinogi used to be more party friendly.

Agreed. When I got it, I think the reason I was able to not panic and type it out all perfectly was because I didn't know what it was or that there could be consequences. The time limit on top of the captcha really just make it all so much worse.

Me too. It's that one game I kept going back to and played whenever I felt down. I don't like seeing what it's becoming.

Yeah, the community was so helpful back then. I wouldn't have gotten as far as I have (I'm still pretty squishy, but because I'm lazy and mostly like to bard) I was lucky enough to have lovely friends that didn't mind helping me. I'm terrible at asking for help, I always feel like I'm bothering other people. I'd rather be the one who gets asked for help than the other way around. Still, it doesn't make sense for them to cut the party aspect from the game. Some people love bigger parties and I don't see why that would be a problem. The whole bot thing is getting ridiculous. On one hand, I get it, on the other, I don't mind gold farming as long as they're not hacking accounts or scamming people to get the gold. Like, is Mabi gonna run out of gold? My only problem with bots/alts is when they block NPCs. Also, I panicked when the captcha popped up. Something told me something bad was gonna happen when that timer ran out. Yeah, Mabi is the game I frequent the most, the music aspect is what drew me in, but it had a charm that kept me coming back. Nexon needs to get it together, but I've lost faith that they will.

Most of the bad updates have been because of Director Choi Dongmin. The good updates stopped when former Director Min Kyunghoon stepped away to focus on working on Project Eternity. Now everything is about forcing solo play and pushing players into the end game dungeons while the majority of the older content in forgotten and unbalanced. New Rise was a massive failure to the point where some of the changes from it have already been removed in Korea. The New Life Update does have some potential and some of the changes are actually good but the captcha system should just be removed. We also don't know how much dungeons will change when the Eternity Update is done as Albey dungeon will already be much different in Eternity.

Currently the game feels like it restricts players more trying to pressure players to play a certain way, limit how much we can do, and putting trade restrictions on some event outfits. Overall it is not really a fun experience anymore. Hopefully Min Kyunghoon will take over as Director again when Eternity is finished, Choi Dongmin needs to be fired as soon as possible cause he is literal poison to the game.
