Wow, Slayers has a lot of barriers to pass on that copyright content.
So I think they would be aiming for an early 2020 anime in which lo and behold! Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel III. Spring Song movie is still targeting that time table. They can just blow the dust off the old event and change a few things around, less focus on Saber and Archer. And focus on Berserker and Rider! And personally, whether its Apocrypha, Grand Order, Extra, Stay Night, or Zero, anything that focuses on the ill fated, but always awesome Rider Class servants is fine by me.
Edit: For a bit of clarification any series that isn't airing soon doesn't have an active advertisement budget. No budget = no hype train. No hype train = no reason to loan the property out. Think about all the previous crossovers we got. SAO when SAO was at it's peak, Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works, Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen, Netjuu no susume, and Re:Zero were all airing as the event happened.
In which case the case of highest probability (unless they take the above example) would be Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari Season two. TateYuusha would be pretty easy admittedly. Selling a reskinned Kokopo as Filo pet, each cardinal heroic weapon could easily be a crossover weapon reskin. 2nd titles are easy and quick to make. And I can see Raphtalia and Malty's outfits being locked behind gacha. Raphtalia could even have the tanuki tail tossed in to help promote VIP and style tab purchases because why wouldn't they?
Phantasy Star Online 2 is not an anime, but a Japanese videogame that will be releasing on Xbox and PC in the US in spring 2020.
Pretty sure SEGA only collabs with itself or Microsoft partners. Nexon would have to make friends for that to happen.
Oh, wait... it probably would actually work since it's like a friend of a friend type of thing, and they all want more AI development.Article that discusses the Sony/Microsoft partnership.
See the Nexon partners link below, it's definitely a plausible wave of collab legality.
Granblue Fantasy 2 is an anime adaptation of the Grandblue Fantasy videogame.
There appears to be an upcoming PS4 2020 game as well.
Well, considering Nexon works with Sony Interactive, it might be a plausible collab with the right advertisement for the game on Nexon's side.
Hey wait, it's developed by Cygames, the same peeps who do Dragalia Lost!
Could Nexon maybe make friends at Nintendo from a collab like this? Sounds like a good risk in my book.

It's a real old anime, and I have no idea how to find what the original light novel status is.

Might want to extend that to ANYTHING licensed under Funimation, since Sabat has pretty much run Funi for the past howevermany years.
Not even the Sacred Ointment will help.
Considering the lawsuit has yet to be appealed, it may even extend into Sony for lack of due diligence on managing Funimation Board of Directors/Contractor positions.

Well them appealing on the lawsuit doesn't have to be made public does it? They're not a public company.
Sony bought Funimation, and Funimation and Aniplex just merged. Only time can tell what could happen.
For now our best bet is hoping that Nexon contacts the JP copyright holders, as they hold the original documents and are in contact with the mangaka/novelist(s).
I don't think a subsidiary has that public obligation either.
(Due to the possibility of mangaka/novelists either opening up a dialogue or potentially filing a lawsuit over how their IP got used in something without their permission.)
With the recent Funimation leaks, it's rather obvious how one of their own lawyers was incapable of utilizing the DB property properly.
Seeing as how he used DB for his own political campaign, Bird Studio would likely have preferred to be asked about that first hand.
(Such as a Mabinogi crossover) It's currently anyone's guess as to if they had approved that little "out of bounds" advertisement.
In accordance with this thread:
As such, it is FUNimation"s policy not to grant any copyright licenses without a detailed, term-limited, signed agreement. Such agreements often must be approved by the studios in Japan where the anime originated. Additionally, these agreements must be tracked by FUNimation to ensure that our Infringement Specialists do not enforce our copyright rights against a valid licensee. Because this process requires ongoing effort, FUNimation does not enter into such agreements except in a commercial context. (e.g. If you operate an established business capable of mass producing anime-related merchandise for sale to the public, FUNimation may then enter into a licensing agreement with you.)
Hence you can easily bypass Funimation with direct permission from the studios in Japan.

I don't see Crunchyroll teaming up with a Korean MMO.
I don't either. And that really cuts down the amount of options available, especially some of the popular shows.
Crunchyroll doesn't actually own the original IP for any anime, they're just borrowing/renting the dubbing/subbing/airing rights for money.
Same goes with the anime itself, the studios don't own the copyright unless it's a 100% in studio original.
(A lot of my above comments list the mangakas/novelist copyright under the spoilers.)
The importance of securing rights, control, and shares for the show which will give them certain advantages over other potential contenders looking to use its content. And Crunchyroll has enough power currently to sway around to do so.
Apparently Crunchyroll was bought by AT&T. Just something to note.
As for collabs, can we get a history of all the collabs done and maybe we can find a pattern?
