Would love it if there was a race change! Sure you can make new characters but the journey of having to do generations over again is a pain! Some of us actually regret playing certain race and wish could switch.

It would allow folks to pursue those race specific skills and masterings, adding more to do with a single character. The alliance system would cause some trouble but I wouldn't shed a tear if they ditched it entirely.

It probably wouldn't be too different than back in the old days when players would rebirth one pet into a different species. Depending on the rebirth, certain skills didn't transfer. But the stat bonuses did transfer. It was common for players to do this for pet MP stats. It could be the same with the race change on player rebirth. Race-specific skills would not transfer, but the stats would.

A player could train new skills under a new race, and gain the stat boosts from the new skills. Then when a player rebirths back into the a previous race, those old skills would return and the newer ones would become inaccessible but retain their bonuses.

With the alliance thingy, it would make sense that if a human rebirthed as a giant or elf, it would automatically reset to the new race. In the reverse, player rebirthing into a human would ally themselves with their most recent former race.

They might as well as do away with the system, though. Or make things more like they used to be. I enjoyed the days when I allied myself with the elves and had to carefully wonder through vales, keeping an eye on the guards. Or that brief time when I changed sides and had to tread carefully through Filia. But I realize returning that to the game is most likely never even going to make it to the table of discussion for DevCAT... not even in the room for discussion. So yeah, the alliance has no real purpose these days. It could go.

I used to hang out in Filia during those days; the memory tower peninsula was safe enough and Filia's walls, back then, were not worthy of the name. I tried applying for their basketball team. I figured I was a shoe-in for center but they sent the city guards after me!

Ah, it would be so cool if you could! Or even if you created a character when you start the game and then go wow, THIS is what this race can do? How upsetting... At least having the option would allow newer players to have choices before they commit to the character they want or have.

I've long ranted for this to be a thing, I'd be stoked to see it realized. Crossing my fingers. Between combo cards, collecting NPC transformations, etc., there's plenty of content I really couldn't redo as another character if I tried.

There will always be complaints that race X is too weak, or not as good as race Y. Nexon makes an adjustment and then it's that race Y is too weak, or not as good as race X. While the game races are different they will not be equal at facing challenges; one will always have an advantage. With regards to fighting, this will become apparent among the elite PvPers as they will sus out, fairly quickly, which race is best at one-on-one.

Nexon has tried to address this by making races specialists as various parts of combat: the tank guys, the DD guys, the auxiliaries. WoWc succeeds at this because these rolls are base on character class rather than character race, but Mabinogi doesn't use character classes. Don't misunderstand me, this is good that we don't have character classes but the result is that differences are based on race. The thing is, parts of combat specialists do not make equals when it comes to lone-wolfing or PvP and hense people beach about inequality.

Nexon could try to address this by making specialisation more coarse: fighting race, crafting race, music(?) race, and so on. The thing is this would not be well received either. What if you like crafting but, overnight after applying the change, find yourself stuck with a fighting race.

The real solution is to allow race change then, whatever they choose to do, or not, doesn't matter. If some new race is better you can just switch over, taking most of your progress with you; everybody wins.

We just need the ability to race change period. I would pay $100 right now. Or even more to race change. I made my character 13 years ago. I've spent lots of money on this account. I don't want to restart. I'm level 30k. I want to race change. We can name change, we can do EVERYTHING else. We should be able to pay for a race change.

Whats the chances of this ever actually happening?

I mean, It's an old game and it still hasnt been done. Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to be able to change my race. I just started playing this, and have gotten to a point that I wish I had gone as an elf! Because I love magic classes, and running extremely fast. I was very dissapointed to find out how much faster elves run than humans!

Theres the option of starting again, but I'd have to wait 24 hours+ for my name again, I'd have to rebuy my cosmetics (Hair, eyes, face) And I'd need to buy a new character card. Plus all the hours I've spent simply playing the game, yeah no lol.

But yes, oh my days.. Please, race change.. Or have the option to at rebirth at a cost to the NX coin wallet.

Better yet, would of been much better to have not had racial stat bonus's to begin with, so that people can play whatever race they want without being punished for it.

Sorry for necroing an old post!~
