Pet names and character names should not be shared and take spots for eachother. If I name my pet RAT it shouldnt take the name RAT from the character name pool so someone else cant use the name for their actual character. The entire pet naming system in general is just absurd and shouldnt even really be a thing at all but if were going to keep it then it should def not be taking spots from people to name their real characters. Like imagine you're a new player and you want to name yourself something and it says someone has your name but actually, noone has your name, its just someones pet. I really hope this changes by the time or atleast when the new engine update comes out. We should atleast have soft name wipes on pets+characters that have been inactive for years. If you're gone from the game for a very long time and someone asks for a name change and you have the name it should just take the name and add +erinn or Temp to your name and gives you a free name change. Either option really works but id honestly prefer the first one where Character names and Pet names can overlap instead of blocking eachothers usage. I know several games actually do the soft name resets and have set times + announcements about it happening throughout the years whenever it does happen. I personally believe that either option would really enhance player experience in the long run.
