I love the graphics, it makes Mabinogi seem so unique and charming plus I really do think they're pretty! However, I understand that the move to the new engine is, I suppose, nesessary after so long but I've been reading people's opinions on the move and they are NOT happy. What is wrong with UE5? I only play games, I don't make them so I have no clue how it could be a bad thing to make that move.

I've seen people have plenty of concerns over it, such as if we might lose all progress and have to start over (the devs already mentioned they'll try to avoid that, I believe, but I can't remember if we got a guarantee on that one yet), what might happen to crossover outfits due to contract issues, stuff like that.

I have heard Unreal Engine itself apparently might have a lot of "ai placeholders" I believe, for devs to use, so that's one reason I can see on why people might really dislike the idea of it, especially since I've also heard rumors that mabi devs really want to move forward with implanting ways to use ai into the game, so people are more worried about the future of mabinogi.

These are just the things I've heard though, I can't say anything with any real certainty and I'm not trying to start any baseless rumors here. I am worried for the future of mabinogi at this point though, and rather or not they're going to move forward with ai use aside from the bit they might have used for images is definitely a heavy question. It would certainly be a dealbreaker for me. Up until recently I used to look forward to Eternity, and while I can acknowledge mabinogi probably does have to move servers eventually since it's outdated, I'm still wary. I also love the bits we've seen of Eternity so far, but it's just the direction and future I'm worried about.

Hmm..... Weird. Google AI tell me that there won't be data transfer from old mabinogi to new mabinogi eternity.

Now people claiming that old mabinogi will transfer to mabinogi eternity.

What mess after I came back to from after all these years and my user forums name got change again......

I personally am still very excited to see what comes of eternity. To my knowledge Mabinogi Eternity was always supposed to allow players to move to the new engine and that is was more a transformation of the game rather than a new game outright. I'd never thought about contract issues with crossover outfits, that and miku and frieren bags etc. My main hope is that we do get to keep our accounts in the new engine though, and am overall stunned with the progress I've seen the team make on bringing Mabi into UE5!

Great, so that means that there's a possibility that I'll have to start from the ground up... Again... Good luck, everyone! -_-

Edit: AI... Ew... I hope that's not true, but I wouldn't put it past them.

As far as I know the plan is still to move the game to Unreal Engine without wiping character data and I have not seen any evidence suggesting that has changed. If they plan on using AI it will probably just be used to save time so they don't have to make the same building or tree a hundred times. There is nothing wrong with using AI in that way as a tool to assist developers. Mabinogi has good bones, it is not like AI is making a completely new game from scratch. Generally most people dislike AI simply cause it exists and I agree it shouldn't replace artists or game developers but if used correctly it can be a useful tool for assistance. The Korean Mabi team is not very large and are probably working with a limited budget for this Eternity Project. It would make sense to use AI in this way to save time and money.

There are also some crossover pets that I would hate to lose. But yes crossover items of any kind are one of the unanswered questions and we might not get a answer to it until Eternity is closer to release. Hopefully all of the crossover stuff will make it with us.
