    THIS Fergus is too . . . . clean. I think of Fergus as a sleazy dirt-bag, who perhaps doesn't wash every day, and is way more hairy? The take on Caravan Joe was unexpected. As my Grandfather would say, he seems a little "light", but, you know, I think it works, so I give the take on Caravan Joe a thumbs-up.

    That's a complete mischaracterization of Ferghus. Just because he's an alcoholic doesn't mean he's a sleazy dirty person. I mean, he works as a blacksmith, those furnace fires are going to make him perspire, and perspiration would make the hands slippery.
    The mob goes after him for every little mistake he makes, of course it makes sense for him to try to get away before they do something to him.
    Other than his unfortunately irreversible bad reputation for his work, he should be a decent fellow other than when he's not sober.

    Here's something people don't give Ferghus credit for.
    He built the windmill and reservoir and does maintenance on it. Yet, the 2 structures are in perfect condition after all these years, and there has been no disasters due to any shoddy work on them.
