Why do Milletians leave sellable items on the ground next to NPCs? I mean, thank you for that but what?

    Offerings to gain their favor.

Someone should tell them it works a lot better when given directly, though.

I pretend the NPCs are pigeons, and I leave item crumbs for them to hop over to and peck at.

I sell to my maid, she gets all my loot and somehow always has the money to pay me.

Players leave them as offerings to the NPCs they consider as a god/goddess.

They are just like Rich man in Emain Macha, they can't be bothered with talking to some... poor, low class NPCs?

I made millions of gold in last few weeks by collecting 10cm diamonds from ground, this is luxury of being low-class with an empty inventory.

Those are actually the overflow of the NPCs' stock. It shows just how bad the economy has become.

Because dropping certain expired items next to a NPC is consoling because they understand the pain of wasted items

I just sell everything else I don't need to NPCs though, like RB clothing.

I'm that person who picks up potions and equips from dungeons/shadow missions and sells them to my butler NPC afterwards.
One persons trash is another persons gold treasure!

I pick up potions from time to time and use them myself. It's unfortunate REs and SEs aren't collectible.

100% agreed, I'm always in need of MP potions of these kinds, so it makes me PO'd when I see people dropping them like trash.
