  • A Little Market Consumer Survey~

1.) What do U usually spend ur gold stockpile on?

You mean my *check* stockpile. ;)

Varies. Pretty much anything from fashion to gear. I refuse to blow tens of millions over silly things like one extra max damage or silly stuff like that though. Diminishing returns and such...

2.) How often Do U spend ducats?(Or what do U buy/use em on? Fomor equips? Repairs?)

I don't spend them often. Usually if I do spend them, it's for music-related stuff.

3.) Do U prefer getting things from the cash shop directly or trading Ingame gold for them?

Depends on the situation. I prefer to buy a pre-reforged item rather than blow $40 at a time myself. Let someone else do the gambling.

4.) Do U have a spending cap when going around PS shopping 4 items?(5m/10m/20m/etc)

Big time. There is one particular item that I am after that I don't believe has dropped yet anywhere, so if it turns up, it'll be very expensive to the point that I'll be dropping hundreds of millions on it. I refuse to break the bank unless that item shows itself. So if people overcharge for new items at a price I'm not willing to pay, I'll simply let it slide and wait for the item's return.

Example: Argenta Hair coupon... I expected the drop rate to be bad but really wanted it... so I set aside 50m for it. I can't seem to buy this for 50m. Rumor has it people are being dragged along at a 70m or higher C.O. price with no "end" in sight. A bidding war over an item with no autowin or definite end time would just jack the price up higher, so I'm letting it go for now. I want it, but not to the tune of the 80-120m you know the seller is fishing for.

Oddly this does not put me on good terms with some of the more aggressive fashion sellers in the game.... B)

5.) Last but not least...Do U prefer to generate ur own gold income(SM/Dungeons/etc) or do U afk and just merch?

If by "merch" you mean scalping items by buying from lowbies at insultingly low prices and jacking the prices up to tens of millions... Well, let's just say I believe there's a specific spot in hell for scalper scum, whether they be in Mabinogi or elsewhere.

I'll usually buy a stack or two from a gacha to see what's new. If an item has a good potential worth but is in too high supply to make anything from it, I'll let it cook on a pet for a few months until the supply dies down rather than let scalpers scoop them all up. That way even the "worthless" gachas that people complain about tend to make me some in-game bank with enough patience.

In-game I have a few particular SMs I like to run with crystals. Between the two I have no preference.

  • Talk: does archery need rebalanced?

Elf main here.... I would say that archery could use a tweak, but otherwise is fine, especially with the introduction of Vision of Ladeca. (Pew pew pew!) Personally, I think it's more that elves need a melee boost, but we're starting to get that with some of the newer changes.

However, I wouldn't say archery is for the "rich". Rather it is *NOT* for anyone who is worried about "keeping up with the joneses". If you're going to get squeamish every time humans bring out the final hit, archer is not for you. People attempt to make up for this with reforges. They are not required by any means, but I think people feel embarrassed not to have them.

I have always said the strength in archery is not pure damage, but kiting and minimal multiaggro. You can pick off enemies one at a time without getting dogpiled if you are careful, allowing you to solo things you typically couldn't as long as you have a bit of patience. (Notice the archery Enn form is the "form of patience"?) An elf on a crystal deer can fire, hide, throw off aggro, and fire again, doing slow but safe damage repeatedly. (A technique used to solo Rabbie Phantasm.) Magnum is heaviest damage, Support shot fires very fast, normal attack (on elves) hits twice and helps hold back enemies that magnum cannot, mirage slows and DoTs, etc.

Now, if you're an elf in a fast moving group and archery ends up being a 3rd wheel, try something like magic. If you want to melee, get a big 'ol celtic hammer or axe. They'll do decent smashes and bashes even on an elf. (Source: Violence is fun....)

  • Do the majority of mabi players use mods?

They clearly aren't against mods if other servers can use approved ones, they're just against NA using them for some reason.

I can think of two reasons:

    1. American customers are spoiled. The concept of "scope of support" simply does not compute to many people. Let's not mince words. If Nexon had "supported" mods, they'd be forced to provide tech support for them, to catalog bugs and work with the mods' devs, and actually pick through the mods in question to find what is safe and what is not. It is easier to simply not allow them in the first place. (It's also worth noting that by making mods contraband, it forces players who use them to be their own tech support...)

    2. Liability. Mabi has security issues and mods blow them wide open. If an officially supported mod turns malicious, or some backdoor sneaks through, you know people would try to pull lawsuits. (No matter how stupid that sounds.)

Thing is... if you have to use anti-cheat software on a multiplayer game, you're doing it wrong. The only way Mabi could EVER allow mods on this side of the pond is if Nexon Korea/Devcat cleaned the game up enormously, to remove all client-side computations or data that can be abused.
