  • Why is it always mabinogi?

    It is, and it isn't

What makes Mabinogi great, to me, is the overall lack of truly defined classes. Anyone can learn damn-near any skill and you can mix and match at you leisure. No other MMO I've played has come close to this in a proper RPG setting. The only thing I can think of that even comes close is the first Guild Wars where you could take on a primary class as a secondary, giving you the skills and weapons on that class on top of your main one.

The disappointing thing is that the game's age is showing very badly. The original dev team no longer works at DevCat, making updating old content, as bad or worse than getting a bill through the Congress and the House or Representatives. There are key features that are flat out omitted here in Nexon Global because of botched or failed conversions from the raw data sent from Nexon Korea. That, or Nexon Korea feels that we don't deserve the content for some reason.

I mean seriously, we work hard and/or invest into the game to make FH make dungeon runs efficient as possible and save dura - thus GOLD. And all these want to do is basically take that away from us. I'm getting real sick if hearing this suggestion.

I couldn't agree with this more.

I run a Total Level 9100-ish Human. I have Rank 1 or Master rank in every Combat Tab skill with the exception of Spirit Weapon Awakening, Evasion, Gold Strike and Crisis Escape. Final Hit is among the Master Ranked Skills I have. I can tell you right now, as a Human Player, who's done all that, and experienced every form of Pure or Combination Melee Combat Mabinogi has to offer. The current Final Hit, is not broken.

Final Hit, as a skill, simply removes all Knockback from the User's Attacks. It is not a "Cheese" Skill that any human can throw out and claim victory.

    * Yes, the Durability Loss was removed, I welcome this as that was the biggest turn-off for using the skill in the first place.
    * Yes, Getting Countered or Knocked back yourself while using Final Hit, no longer cancels the skill. So what? The easiest way to win against Final Hit is to run down the clock. Stun-locking an Active Final Hit User is the worst thing you could possibly do to them. I know this because I've experienced this and I teach this to new players.
    * Final Hit is not an Untouchable Skill. While that may be misleading, What I mean is this. The player using Final Hit, can still be hurt by the target. All you need is to be fast enough or for the user to have just enough latency, and it won't matter how strong Final Hit makes them, You can still hurt them, even kill them. And while skills like Counter, no longer cancel out Final Hit, they can still be loaded fast enough to disrupt it.

So Please. Stop trying to say Final Hit needs to be "Fixed" by being Nerfed into the ground to the points it is as bad or worse than what it was Pre-Renovation.I can think of a few Magic or Alchemy Skills that fall under the same pretext of "Fixing" because they make other skill-sets pointless.

  • What Would You Want Fix In Mabi

Honestly, there list of things I'd fix is fairly small:

1: Update all Pre-Generation 9 Outfits/Armors/Weapons to match the quality of Post-Generation 16 Content. Its stupid how we have all of these new, beautiful looking outfits and weapons, yet some of the tried and true classics look like they were barfed up by Ferghus in comparison.

2: Balance the Racial Skill Bias.
This is something I've mentioned a lot in-game and on the forums once or twice. Giants, lack the ability to use the Archery Skill-set, yet have a perfectly good racial based ranged weapon. Remove the Throw Attack Skill, refund its AP, (just like they did with Sharp Mind, ages ago) And allow the Atlatl and Javelins to use the Archery Talent, giving Giants that talent. Conversely, Elves lack the Knight/Lancer Skill-set. Fixing this is not as straight-forward as Giants and Archery, but is still 100% doable. Take the Rapier weapons, technical two-handed swords, that, by game definition, do not fall under the Sword Mastery tree. Add these weapons to the list of weapons capable of using the Lance Skills, as rapiers were originally designed as thrusting weapons. They would not have the reach of a Lance, weaker natural penetration levels, and no minimum range restrictions, but at the same time, it would be a Uni-Race Lance-Class weapon, giving Elves the ability to use this talent.

Anything else I can thing of, has been mentioned by others already.

  • New Content is Exclusively Limited [Rant]

While I can agree on several of your points, There are some I feel, are just splitting hairs. But that is the point of a rant, so I will let you have that.

I agree, an overall update to the stock of NPC shops, Clothing or Smithing, would be a welcomed change. What I feel would be a better change on this front, would be an overhaul/update to the textures and normal maps of the Gen 1-7 items that look like they were leftover resources for a project on the original Play Station. I feel that is not asking too much, to have the older weapons, armor and clothing, match the look and feel of the newer content we get with every new event.

The one point I will argue that you bring up as a negative, is the locking of events to a single character on an account.

This change came about when Generation 13, Hamlet and the Cultural Exchange Event that came with it, were added to the game. During this event, all you had to do was go and talk to one of three NPCs and they would give you a random Japanese, Chinese or Korean themed weapon or outfit. You could do this with every character on an account and There was no real delay in this. People spammed this and abused this to the point the markets for those items had crashed, and the events had to be ended early due to this exploitation. Katanas and Wakizashis back then, dropped in price, ten-fold, some were even as cheap as 50k a unit. Before then, the only way to get these weapons, was to get the manuals to smith them, from the Blacksmithing Gachapon.

So Yes, while it seems unfair, I can understand and respect the locking of events to a single character on an account, as a means of preventing market flooding by Players with 10-50 characters on their accounts.

No, you can't. No Bags in Soul Stream Inventory.

    well crap... Oh well.

It'll make a good place to dump all my Res-Feathers, Bandages and Soul Stones, maybe my potions as well.
